“You’re unbelievable.” She flopped back onto the bed.

He stared at her. She was really mad, and sick fuck that he was, it was turning him on. “You know, angry sex is hot.” He stretched out on the bed, very close to her. She might be curious enough to give it a shot.

“You’re disgusting.”

“Try it before you judge.” He tossed the covers back so she could see how aroused he was. “Tempers hot. Sex rough and selfish. You take what you need, not worrying about if I like it.”

“Thanks, but I’ll pass.”

“Okay, but you really should try it at least once in your life.”

“I will. With my next husband.”

He ground his teeth together. The thought of her with another man made him almost explode but raging at her wouldn’t get him what he wanted. “It won’t be as good. It’ll never be as good as you and me.” His gaze locked with hers and there was a flare of desire in her eyes before she stamped it out.

“It’ll be better because we’ll love each other, and we won’t hurt each other to win a bet.” She rolled away from him.

“Don’t pretend like you’ve been playing fair. You were the first one to bring another person into our game.”

“Having Tobias help me was nothing like what you did, and you know it.” Her voice cracked.

“I don’t know shit. All I did was hire someone you were told to hire days ago. He’ll take a lot of the workload from you. You should be thanking me.”

“I am so done with this conversation.” She sat up, grabbed her pillow and tossed the covers aside.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going?”

“To my room.” She started to climb out of bed.

“No.” He grabbed her am. “We’re married. We sleep together, pissed off or not.”

“Let go.” She tried to pry his fingers from her forearm.

“Lie down and I will.”

“No. Let go of me,” she said through gritted teeth.

“Alison, please just lie down. I won’t touch you, but I mean it. We’re married—”

“It’s not a real marriage.”

“It’s real enough.” He was tired of hearing her say that every time they disagreed. “We should sleep together always, mad or not.”

“We’re not having sex so why do you care where I sleep?”

“I don’t know.” It annoyed him but he did care. They were married and that meant she slept with him.

“That’s not a good enough answer.”

“Fuck you.” He let go of her. “Then go. Leave. I don’t give a shit.” He rolled onto his side. He couldn’t force her to stay. No one stayed unless they wanted to and no one ever wanted to stay with him.

She got out of bed and walked to the door.

“I care because I like having you by me.” He had no idea why he’d said it except that it was the truth.

“What did you say?” She turned toward him.

“Nothing,” he muttered. He hadn’t meant to say it the first time. He definitely wasn’t repeating it.
