CHAPTER 20: Harker

Harker sat in his office, staring at nothing. He should’ve never fucked Alison that night a couple of months ago, even though the memories still brought a smile to his face.

Ever since that night, Alison’s libido had gone into overdrive. He'd had a lot of sex in his life, but never this much. He swore his balls barely had time to fill up before she emptied them, and when they were fucking, he was happy. She was his. They were connected but these visits to heaven were short, hot, steamy encounters and hell followed quickly afterward.

He should’ve stayed the course after the enchilada fight. He was almost sure she would’ve eventually conceded and agreed to have dinner with him. However, he wasn’t positive.

Ever since she’d told him she was pregnant and had discovered the addendums in the contract he’d been the sub in their relationship, except when they were fucking. Then he was in charge, but otherwise he’d been willing to take whatever scrap of her time and affection she’d throw his way.

That wasn’t working for him anymore. He’d spent months trying to repair their relationship without any success. It was time to take back control. He pulled out his phone and called Ethan.

CHAPTER 21: Harker

The next morning, Harker waited in the kitchen for Alison. They were going to sort this out because he was done being used for his cock. He started the coffee and dropped two waffles into the toaster. Alison would be hungry. She was always hungry.

He cut some fruit and put it into a bowl. This was what he wanted—to take care of her. He poured some coffee in his cup and sat at the table. They were having a kid together. It only made sense that they stayed married. Plus, they were more than compatible sexually, and he enjoyed her company. He liked her. He froze, the cup halfway to his mouth as a tiny voice whispered, Is that all? Who are you trying to kid? You feel more for her than that.

The toaster popped and he pushed those unnerving thoughts aside as he walked across the kitchen. He buttered the waffles and put them on a plate, placing the syrup from the fridge on the counter next to it.

The sound of Alison humming drifted down the hallway and Harker’s eyes went to the door—eager to catch his first glimpse of her.

She stepped into the kitchen, her hand rubbing her extended belly. She had a soft smile on her face…until she saw him. Her smiled disappeared and her hand stilled. “Why aren’t you at work?”

He was getting a little tired of her shutting him out of her life. He’d spent months listening to her laughing and joking with Mac, Merri and Tobias, but around him, she’d speak in one syllable words if she spoke at all, and she never smiled. The only time she had an expression on her face around him was when he was fucking her and that wasn’t enough. He wanted everything from her—her laughter, her talking, her anger and her friendship.

He walked to the table and took another sip of his coffee before responding. He needed to take control of their relationship again. “I was waiting for you.”

“Why?” She walked to the counter and squirted syrup on the waffles.

“Because we need to talk.”

“About what?” She stuffed a hunk of waffle in her mouth, watching him warily.

“About us.” He braced for the pain that he knew was coming.

“There is no us.”

“You seem to feel differently when you're horny.” Even with his plan this was a gamble. He could lose the only time she noticed him, but he had to risk it. He couldn’t keep living like this with only one small part of her in his life.

“I thought we settled this months ago.”

“We didn’t settle anything.”

“You weren’t complaining last night.”

“I’m complaining now. I’m tired of you using me just for sex.”

“Oh, that’s a good one.” She laughed but it was a harsh sound. “But if you don’t want to fuck me anymore, that’s fine. I’ll take my needs elsewhere.” She ran her hand over her rounded belly. “It's not like you have to worry about whose baby this is.”

“I don’t think you will.”

“Think again.” Her eyes were hard.

“No.” He put his coffee cup down and walked toward her.

“Stay where you are.” She backed away.

“No,” he said again.
