“I see that I’ve created a monster.” He was still a little nervous, but he had to trust her. He loved her too much not to.

“Yes, you did.”

“Fine, but before I sign anything I’ll need my lawyer to look at it.”

“Oh, I don't think you will.” She laughed.

“Unlike you, I always have my lawyer look over everything before I sign it.”

“Did he look over our wedding license?” Again she looked at him with feigned innocence.

“No. There was barely anything on that but our signatures. Nowhere to hide anything in that contract.”

“And there’s not in this one either. Look at it and then decide.” She walked to the nightstand on her side of the bed. She opened the drawer and handed him a single sheet of paper.

I, Alison Harker, agree to love Augustus Harker for the rest of my life—no matter how grumpy “Barker” gets.

She’d signed right below, and the next part was for him.

I, Augustus Harker, agree to love Alison Harker for the rest of my life.

He glanced over his shoulder at her. “I see there's no caveat about you.”

“Me? Of course not. I couldn’t think of anything that I might do that would annoy you.” She tried but failed to look sincere.

“Hmm. Since it’s our wedding night, I’ll let you keep thinking that.” He signed the paper and handed it back to her. “And since you brought up Barker, I think we should talk about your little game. Have you been playing it?” He glanced at her laptop that sat on the table next to his side of the bed.

“I swear. I did not bring that in here.” She gave him a curious look.

“That’s not what I asked.”

“Okay. I have been playing it but only a little.” She shrugged and took a step away from him. “You’ve been grumpy lately.”

“That’s your fault.” He took a step toward her, angling so she’d move in the direction of the bed.

“My fault?” She took another step away from him. “Oh no, you don’t get to blame me because you bark at me.”

“I do when you’re the one who decided that we should abstain from sex before the wedding.” He moved closer to her.

“Three days. That’s all.” She bumped into the bed.

“All? You’re lucky I agreed to that. I never would’ve made it a week like you’d wanted.”

“You’ve done it before?” She smirked.

“Not by choice.”

“It was by choice. Mine.” This time her grin was wide and unapologetic.

“I think my wife is getting a little cocky.”

Her eyes dropped to his pants. “I think my husband is.” Her tongue skimmed across her lower lip.

“It’s a husband's job to be cocky, and it’s a wife’s job to take care of that for him.” He grabbed her arm and pulled her to him. “You seem to have forgotten that last part.” He cupped her ass, squeezing it. “I think you need a spanking.”

“Yes, Sir.” She stood on tiptoes and kissed him.

He stepped back, kicking off his shoes and removing his socks. He sat on the bed, pulling off his shirt. “Take off your robe.” It was practically see-through, but he wanted it gone.
