I drop the puffer to the shower floor and bring my hand around to caress her nipples. “Did he play with these?”

She whimpers. “No.” I circle her clit with one hand, massage her nipples with the other, and nibble on her ear. “Oh…”

“If you were thinking of sleeping with him, let me remind you of why you shouldn’t.”

“Why not?” she asks breathlessly.

I turn the water off and push her forward. Roughly enough to show her I mean business but gently enough so I don’t hurt her. She places her hands against the wall with her leg still resting on the shelf. She moans as I align myself against her entrance. “Because you’re mine, Kai. I don’t care how much time has passed between us or how many guys you fuck. You’re mine.” I enter her easily, and she cries out as I take her from behind. “He won’t fuck you like I will.”

“Jaxon.”

“He won’t make you feel like I do.”

“Oh, God…”

“You won’t come for him the way you come for me.”

She loses it. She screams as she pulsates around me, causing me to cry out as I come inside her. I pull myself out gently and help her balance herself. She turns around to face me. Sated, wet, and wrinkled. She shivers slightly. I turn the water back on, but warmer than before, and reach down to grab her puffer. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

CHAPTER 5

KAI

My sister rambles on about the cruise she took with my parents, and I don’t hear a word she has to say. I’m too busy thinking about the way Jaxon fucked me in the shower. “Kai…”

“Yeah?”

“You weren’t even listening.”

“Yes, I was.”

Peyton places her hands on her narrow hips. “Fine. What did I just say?”

My blank stare reveals that she’s right. I don’t have a clue about what she said. “Okay. Okay. Sorry.”

She shakes her head and laughs. “What’s got you so distracted?”

“Nothing.” I stand and head into the kitchen, where my mother is making her famous smothered chicken. I kiss her on the cheek. “It smells good.”

“I couldn’t wait to get back home. The food on the cruise was horrible.”

“It wasn’t that bad,” my father says as he enters the kitchen. “Your mother is just picky. You girls know how she is.”

He kisses my mother on the lips, and they share a brief look of passion before he pulls away. My parents have been married for many years. Their story is something out of a romance novel. Boy travels for business. Girl is a flight attendant. Boy meets girl. Boy and girl fall in love and live happily ever after. I’ve always admired their marriage. It’s what I wanted. Well…what I thought I wanted. You see, what my parents have is rare. It’s once in a lifetime. I’ve learned that a love like theirs isn’t in the cards for me, no matter how much I hoped for it. “How’s work?”

My dad’s voice interrupts my thoughts. “Work is good.”

“Are you staying for dinner?” he asks as he steals a piece of Mom’s homemade bread.

“Yeah.”

Peyton hops onto the stool at the island. “Something has Kai distracted.”

Mom turns to face me. “Is everything okay?”

I nod. “Peyton’s overreacting, as usual.”

“Is it a guy?” Mom teases. “It’s about time you start dating again.”
