“I did, and you are everything to me, I love you.” She sighs but still is tense in my arms. “I’m going to reverse it, and not just for you, but for me too.”

She wriggles out of my arms, breaking our connection and turns to face me. “You’re going to get unsnipped?” she asks looking serious.

“I want you in my life forever, Mollie. We deserve this happiness and it’s probably not fair that the love I have for you is this enormous. It should spill over onto any child we choose to make, adopt, foster, or will into existence.”

Her smile is luminous. “I don’t think that last one is a thing.”

“We can do anything we set our minds to with the love we have for each other. I want you and fate has brought us back here to where we started.”

“I want you too, I love you,” she says and the minute she does the power goes back on and the room is flooded with light.

“Bright light,” I call out and jump up to turn them off.

We blow the candles out and get under the covers. I pull her to me as she wraps herself around my body. “You are my destiny, Mollie James, and I would do anything for you.”

“Even let a sharp instrument near your schlong?” she teases.

“Even that,” I say. “It’s you and me, forever.”

“We are that cheesy couple again, aren’t we?”

“Yep, and I can’t wait to make people uncomfortable about our love.”

She laughs and I am struck by how lucky I am. “I can’t believe we started with you stuck under that shower door, flashing me your vagina,” I say and she sits up, beautiful with her jaw dropped, the sheet pooled at her naked waist.

“I knew you saw it!” she says, pushing on my shoulder.

“How could I miss that huge bush next to a tattoo I dream about.” I run my thumb over the little lifeguard buoy she has had on her hip since her 18th birthday.

“I used to dream about you,” she says settling back next to me, “and my bush is not huge thank you very much.”

“There’s been landscaping since then for sure,” I say reaching down to tug at her sexy little strip of hair there. “Tell me more about these dreams.”

“After Steven and I had been trying for a few months to have a baby, I started having these dreams where I was lost but could hear a baby crying. The dream was always in a different place with different things going on, but it always ended the same way.” She hesitates. “You were there holding a bundle. It wasn’t always a baby, sometimes it was Al the turtle, or a loaf of bread. But you were always there waiting for me and I would feel better and the dream would end.”

“That’s not the sex dream I was expecting, but it’s even better.”

“Why is that?”

“Because you always end up with me, and now it’s not a dream, it’s reality,” I say, leaning in to kiss the tip of her nose.

A flash of lightning lights up the room and then the power goes out again.

“This is a good reality.”

The End…

EPILOGUE

MOLLIE FUTURE

Owen and I are on our evening stroll along the beach. It’s a warm August night and the moon is full. The glassy water is gorgeous with the reflection of the moon and we are nearing our street. Owen ended up moving in with me for obvious reason. My house is bigger and closer to the beach, not to mention his Aunt Lucy came back in January and kicked him out.

This year has been one of healing, rediscovery, and multiple orgasms. Even though Owen went and got his wiener un-snipped, we decided to wait a little bit to try for a baby. We were apart for so long. I want to tell him I’m ready if he is. Of course, we are not only relying on our bodies to produce a baby, but when we agree to try, we will also apply for a program Nat told me about. It’s called Kid Save and you foster older children from Colombia with the hopes of adopting them.

“Hey, it’s our OG spot,” Owen says, pulling me towards the lifeguard stand. For some reason, it’s in the middle of the beach instead of where it should be, by the dunes. “Hop up there, Hatchet.”

I climb up because it is a favorite spot. Owen and I sit on the chair in the evenings sometimes and just talk and make out like we used to when we were kids. He’s almost talked me into having sex on it, but I can’t bring myself to do it to Jules and Garrett, our regular guards on the beach. I’d feel too weird watching them protect the beach sitting where Owen railed me.
