"Aphie." He said it slowly, as if trying it out. "I think it suits you."

"I'm glad you think so."

"Here you go," Stef says, holding out a wrapped gyros to me, breaking through the moment.

"Thanks." I turn to take it. "Just add them both to my tab will you?"

"Of course." He hands the other one to Damien.

"Thanks," he says, taking it from him.

"I'll see you next week," I say to Stef, waving at him as we leave.

There aren't very many people out on the street, which gives a weird sense of peace to the normally busy city. I love this time of night, it makes me forget that the world has moved on from the way it once was. Not that I mind modern life.

"So what now?" Damien asked, pausing outside the shop.

"Normally I eat while walking home," I admitted. "I should have thought about that before. We can just walk around a bit, or you could walk me home."

"We should do that," he said. "If you're okay with it."

I nodded. "It's not too far out of your way, right?"

"I don't know where you live, so I don't know that. But I don't live far from here, so I imagine it's fine."

"All right then, walking and eating it is." I gestured for us to set off down the street. My feet ached a little in my heels, but it wasn't unmanageable.

Damien fell into step beside me, the ease of which he did so not lost on me. There was something about the way he moved that felt weirdly in sync with me, whether it was intentional or not.

I took a bite of my gyros and let out a satisfied sigh. "That's just the perfect way to end a night."

"I have to admit, it's good."

"And eating it while wearing a tux only adds to it, right?" I looked over at him to find him smiling as he took another bite.

"I have to admit that it does," he agreed. "I just never thought about it before."

"Didn't you used to do it when you went out with friends?"

"I didn't. We were more the chicken nuggets from the cheap chicken place by my university," he said.

"Ah solid choice. Though it sounds like a recipe for food poisoning."

"Mmm, that happened a few times, it didn't stop us."

I laughed in response. "Sometimes it's hard to learn."

"It is. Though I haven't eaten chicken nuggets in years, so maybe I have learned."

"I suppose it's got to happen sometime." I pulled a chip out of my wrap and ate it.

"So, does the gyros-guy know who you are?"

"No, he doesn't. It's not really a conversation that comes up over late-night gyros."

"You mean you don't go around just telling random people that you're a goddess?" he asked.

"Have you ever tried it?" We turned a corner.
