"Why?"

"I don't know. Sometimes it's good to try and do something a little different."

"You don't strike me as the impulsive type."

"I'm not any more." But maybe there was a part of me that still recalled when I was.

I stepped closer, searching his face to make sure he wasn't uncomfortable. The last thing I wanted was to ruin the moment.

He reached out and placed a hand on my waist, giving me all the confirmation I needed that this was okay. I closed the gap between us and wrapped my arms around his neck as I pressed my lips against his.

Damien pulled me closer with a firm hand on my lower back, deepening the kiss as he did. All thoughts fled as everything became about the tingling sensation running through me and the feeling that this was exactly what we were supposed to be doing.

I broke the kiss, but didn't pull back. I wasn't entirely convinced that I could even if I wanted to.

Damien's hooded gaze met mine and before I quite knew what was happening, his lips were back on mine. There was no way this was going to be the last time, I wasn't going to let that happen.

I had no idea how long we embraced for, but my breathing was heavier than I anticipated when we finally parted. I lifted my fingers to my lips, trying to work out what emotion was the strongest. It had been a very long time since I'd had a kiss like that.

"So, is that offer for tomorrow still on the table?" I asked.

His lips curved up into a smile, only making me think about how much I wanted to feel them on mine again. "Most certainly."

"Come pick me up?" I asked, waving to the building beside me.

"This is where you live?"

I nodded. "Penthouse."

"Of course, I'd expect nothing less. I'll pick you up at four?"

"In the afternoon?" I checked.

"Yes."

"Weird time for a date, but sure."

He chuckled. "I know, but I think I've got the perfect place to take you."

"All right, then I'll see you at four." I leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Good night, Damien."

"Good night, Aphie."

A small thrill went through me in response to his words. I headed inside, feeling him watch every step I took.

Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough.

Eight

Damien

I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing in taking a literal goddess on a date. And not just any goddess either, but Aphrodite. Though it was getting harder and harder for me to reconcile the woman I knew with the stories about her. There was no doubt she was beautiful, or that she clearly knew how to captivate me, but there was so much more to her than that.

Despite my disbelief, I approached her building with excitement growing inside me. I might be nervous about the idea of dating a goddess, but I wasn't nervous about dating her. If anything, the idea of spending the next few hours with her completely unencumbered by anything as distracting as work was something to look forward to.

I rang the buzzer only for it to click a second later.
