I smoothed down my skirt as I approached Aine's office door, knowing that once I was on the other side, I'd have to repay the favour she did me by helping with the catering for Horus' fundraiser. Not that she was aware of just how big of a favour that had turned out to be considering I'd spent most of my weekend with one of her employees.

I bit my bottom lip as thoughts of the weekend passed through my mind. Damien's office had to be around here somewhere, was it weird if I stopped to see him on the way back? I pushed the thought aside, I'd revisit it once I'd dealt with whatever Aine wanted.

"Come in," she called as soon as I'd finished knocking.

The ornate wooden door led into a surprisingly plush office, with the brunette love goddess sitting behind her desk and looking like the vision she was. It was hard not to recognise another goddess of the same domain for what she was, which was probably how we'd ended up in bed a couple of times in the past.

I waited for memories of those times to come, but they didn't. It wasn't the same as what I had with Damien, and I knew deep down that it was nothing to do with the fact that it was more recent. It was just that with Aine, it had meant nothing.

"Ah, Aphrodite, thanks for coming," she said.

"Well, you did ask to see me and I do owe you a favour," I pointed out.

"I can still be grateful you came," she said. "Why don't you take a seat?"

I sat in the comfortable-looking chair on the visitor's side of her desk. I should think about getting something like this for my own office, it was much better than what I currently had. Then again, I rarely met clients in my own space, I mostly visited theirs.

"What can I do for you?" I asked as I studied the woman across from me. She looked to be in her element, but that wasn't a surprise, there'd always been an air of solemness around the Celtic goddess, and being in her workspace only accentuated that.

"I wanted to ask if you'd do a charity auction for me," Aine said.

"A charity auction? I hope you're not trying to get me to sign up to be auctioned off on a date or something like that."

"Oh no, not that kind of auction, though that's a great idea next time we need to do a charity events. I know you wouldn't be interested, but I bet there'd be loads of people who would. Can you imagine the marketing? Bid on a date with a god!" She let out a wistful sigh. "So many ideas, so little time. Anyway, no, it's not that kind of auction."

"So what kind is it?" I asked, resisting the urge to pick at a loose thread from my skirt.

"It's a date package situation. Everyone bids on the date they want. The money goes to charity. There's all kinds of things up for grabs, there's a wine tasting at a dryad run vineyard that I very much recommend, and Anansa has given a luxury weekend on one of her boats. I'm tempted to bid on that one myself." She fiddled with her pen as she spoke, the excitement she was clearly feeling for her company coming through every word.

I frowned. "Okay, but what does Jinx get out of that?"

"Well great PR for one. We're hosting a charity auction within our first year of business, it looks good. But we're also doing it so that every date package comes with a month's worth of our matchmaking service. Cupid got us an amazing matchmaking team together and we're trying to make sure people know about it."

"I see." I nodded. "So you want me to manage the event?"

"Yes. We've got a few weeks, will that be enough?" She looked hopeful, but I could tell she was very nervously waiting for my answer.

"It'll be tight, but considering you have an internal events team, it should be doable. But I'll need a decent budget and a list of all of the various options. The main issue is whether you're going to get the seats filled with the right bidders, so I'll have to talk to your marketing department and sort all of that out."

Aine let out a visible sigh. "Thank you so much, Aphie."

I gave her a warm smile. "You're welcome. You did me a favour, I do you a favour. It's how it works, right?"

"Yes, but...I guess if this goes well, there could be a job for you. If you wanted one."

"I don't want to work for you, Aine," I said firmly.

"It wouldn't be awkward."

"Of course it wouldn't. For one, you're with Min now. And when has it ever actually been awkward?"

"Maybe the first time," she joked.

"Yeah, okay, maybe then. But it's been, what? A thousand years since then? I think it's safe to say we're over it," I pointed out.

She nodded. "So why won't you work for me?"

"Because I don't want to work for anyone. But you can hire my services any time you want. For an exorbitant fee, naturally."
