I felt his smile against my neck, and he pulled his fingers from me. I felt empty, but could still feel the phantom strokes of his fingers when he put them to his lips and licked my arousal from each one.

“You’re going to think about this as much as I am. I know it.” With a wink, he turned and walked away, leaving me to fix my pants as he refilled Rudy’s beer.

When I clenched my pussy and a shiver traveled down my spine, I knew he was right. I am so screwed.

Chapter 19

Logan

Ilet the seventh episode in a row of Survivor start, yawning and picking up my phone to scroll through my social media accounts. The feeds wouldn’t have changed since the last time I’d looked, but I refreshed the page mindlessly and sighed. I pulled up a blank text message.

ME: What are you doing?

She was going to think I was drunk, even at six o’clock. Some days that wouldn’t be unheard of, but I expected her to be skeptical.

SIMONE: Nothing, why?

ME: Let’s hang out.

SIMONE: Hang out or fuck?

I laughed. I would be lying to myself if I said I hadn’t been thinking about the way her pussy had fluttered around my fingers when I made her fall apart last night. The scent of her arousal and the sound of her heavy breathing were like a song stuck in my head.

ME: Hang out

ME: But if we happen to fuck, then…

SIMONE: You’re impossible.

ME: That wasn’t a no.

I didn’t wait for her to respond again before I was turning off the TV in the middle of one of the ridiculous puzzle challenges I swore were scripted. I stumbled slightly while pulling my shoes on, stopping myself and standing still in the doorway.

“Deep fucking breath, Logan.”

Liking Simone wasn’t something I wanted. Something about her was different the first time she’d walked into Pour Decisions, and that hadn’t changed. I considered going back inside, turning the TV back on, and watching another couple hours of pointless reality TV. My phone buzzed, and I turned the handle on the door.

SIMONE: Fine.

I smiled. I already knew she was going to give in. I knew by the way she’d reacted to me the night before. I was going to regret the decision to go, but when I started my car and pulled away from my apartment, I didn’t care so much about regrets.

When the door opened and it wasn’t Simone on the other side, I checked the number again. It was the right apartment. I didn’t realize she had a roommate.

“You’re Logan?” Her chipper voice was a direct contrast to the skepticism that decorated her face.

I stumbled over my response. “Yes?”

“Is that a question?” The woman laughed, lifting one of her eyebrows and looking over her shoulder. “The guy you claim to hate but are obviously into is here,” she said, earning a gasp from the living room.

“Emmy!”

I smiled. Was Simone obviously into me? “So can I come in or do I have to stand out here all night?”

“You have to stand out there all night,” Simone said as she came into view of the front door. There was a smile on her face, and she scrunched up her nose. “I’m kidding.”

“Obviously.” I stepped past her and into the apartment when she pulled the door open wider.

Her roommate stood off to the side with her arms crossed over her chest, the original look of judgment returning to her features. She sighed and put her hands up in surrender. “Look, from what I’ve heard about you, you sound like a fucking dick. If you’re in my living room, you can’t be a dick. Deal?” She pointed at me as if making sure I knew she was talking to me.
