As I finished that sentence, Liam turned around, his hand sliding across my lower back, right on the edge of decency. He held me tightly against him, my head resting on his muscled chest.

“What if I took you on a date tonight? A real one.”

“Hm, I’m not sure. Convince me.”

Liam spun me around before pulling me into him again, my ass tightly snuggled against his crotch. With one hand cupping my pussy while the other harshly grabbed my boob, he whispered, “I’m parading you as mine tonight, Miss Harden, and when I’m done with that, I’m eating this pussy for dessert.”

Chapter 28

Jamie

“You look ravishing, Miss Harden,” Liam said as I came down the stairs to meet him in the lobby. We’d gotten ready separately, trying to mimic what an actual date would be like.

Liam’s teasing had heated me up inside, so I’d chosen the sexiest outfit I had in my suitcase. The same little black dress I had worn on my birthday paired with stilettos and a skimpy black thong underneath.

Liam waited for me at the bottom of the stairs, his hand stretched out for me to take. He was devouring me with his eyes, practically undressing me with his gaze, his green orbs turning darker the closer I got. His stare made me feel sexy as I swayed my way over towards him. There was an unusual confidence under my strut, all because of the way Liam looked at me.

“So fucking ravishing.” He groaned in my ear as soon as I was in his arms, that low husky voice of his sending delightful shivers down my spine. My knees trembled under that tone and my pussy desperately craved his attention.

“Is this too much?” I gave him the full view with a little twirl, making sure to slow down when my back was to him, showing off how tight the dress was around my ass.

“It’s perfect. I’m a good fighter, I can take out any fucker that dares to drool over what’s mine. Besides, my gun is loaded and ready to go.”

His possessiveness was exhilarating, and not even the mention of his weapon cooled the heat that pooled between my legs.

“You look quite dashing yourself, Mr. Dornier.” Liam was wearing a black suit, tailored to his fit body, paired with a white dress shirt and no tie. I let my eyes roam his figure as I praised him, tucking my bottom lip between my teeth, the image of his sculpted muscles under the layers of clothes making my mouth water.

“Let’s get this date out of the way, shall we? I’m suddenly desperate to have you in my bed again.” He grunted, untucking my lip from the iron clasp of my teeth with the pad of his thumb.

With a hand on the small of my back, Liam steered me towards the car where the two men I’d seen yesterday were waiting. They had caution etched into their features, but I felt them soften as soon as we approached, even though not an inch of their scowls gave in.

They both slid into the front seats while Liam held the back door open for me before stepping inside the car beside me. I was in a vehicle filled to the brim with mafia men, yet, until this day, I’d never felt safer in my life.

The drive was short and charged with a lustful energy that wouldn’t give. Side glances and chaste touches were all Liam was giving me, together with a calm façade that didn’t match the erratic beat of my heart whenever his thumb came full circle around the back of my hand.

All I saw in those glances was the disguised craving for more. Candid smiles that bit back on all the sordid desires, tamed to give me this moment of pure romance. Was I projecting? Most probably.

There was something about the wait, about the expectation of what was to come. The anticipation was burning on both ends of my fuse. I couldn’t wait to see what happened when both sparks met in the middle.

Liam had booked us a table at a fine dining restaurant. One where I couldn’t dare to check out the price list. Chandeliers ornated the ceiling while simple yet exquisite dinnerware covered the tables with glamor.

My eyes bulged as I took in the exquisite decor. My head snapping right and left, taking it all in, just like the poor unaccustomed-to-wealth girl that I was.

“Liam,” I called, my grasp on his arm suddenly pulling back.

He stopped in his regal stride, knowing exactly where my hesitance came from, turning to face me. “None of that tonight. We are on a date, Miss Harden. I’m a gentleman, the kind that doesn't do halfsies. Better start getting used to it.”

He sealed the discussion with a kiss to my lips that told me there was no argument and that nothing I said would make him change his mind.

I nodded once and let him lead us behind the maitre d’ as he directed us to our table. Liam pulled out my chair like the gentleman he was, fixing me with a massive smile as I took my seat, melting me right on the spot.

The waitress came to take our order, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was reliving this exact moment. A dejá vu kind of thing, one that had left a bitter taste in my mouth. I’d lived out this very scene before.

The woman taking our order was practically drooling over Liam, her lashes batting towards him faster than my damn heart.

Jealousy crept up my spine watching Liam politely smile back at her as they spoke, discussing the wine list and taking forever to choose a damn bottle. My fingers balled my napkin in my fist, leaving hard wrinkles on the pristine fabric that would probably never again be ironed out.

She placed her hand on Liam’s shoulder as she faked her laugh, taking the opportunity to feel for herself how well he filled out that damn suit.
