Alessandra says, “Oh, those types of proclivities. Do you have questions?”

“No questions. He widened my spectrum quite a bit, but we’re going away for ten days. Plus, he said I could do anything with that room he used as a shrine, so I thought about a sex room.”

“Ah, fuck! Why didn’t I think of that?” Chiara says, slapping a palm on her forehead.

Aurora giggles. “I’m already planning mine.”

Alessandra looks everywhere but at us, and Chiara pushes at her shoulder playfully, “You already have one in your home, don’t you?”

She sips from her glass and says, “It’s never come up.”

I snap my fingers in their faces to get their attention. “Hello? Let’s get back to my problem. I want that room to be sexy. Since you all are more experienced...”

Chiara wiggles her eyebrows. “Well, as the expert, Alessandra should tell you what to do.”

“Ah, shut up. It was for Hayden’s birthday last year. I was so guilt-ridden, I’d spent another long shift at the hospital, so...”

“Do you have any idea how much shit that would have spared me with Cato? A tip would have been nice.”

“Not even that room could help you out. You love tormenting him,” Aurora says with an amused expression.

Chiara sighs dreamingly. “He loves my attitude. And the sex afterward...”

I flick my fingers again in their faces. “Hello?”

“Sorry. Yes, ten days. We’ll do it,” Aurora says.

“Thank you.”

“I’m pretty sure that in the history of friendship, someone asking her friends to decorate her sex room has never happened. I could be mistaken, though. We’ll do anything for each other,” Alessandra says.

“And tell each other everything,” Chiara adds.

“I’ll never live that down, will I?” Alessandra huffs.

The following day, Cameron and I fly to a secluded island in the Indian ocean. We’re the only two people in the luxurious resort, surrounded by tropical greenery and exotic birds. The suite is high up in a tree, and the infinity pool below gives the impression of swimming in the sky while offering a breathtaking view of the trees and ocean. It’s beyond beautiful.

We spend ten days making love, going on hikes, swimming, and talking—so much talking it’s as if we can’t stop. I laugh and fall in love with this life and Cameron even more. We’ll share and experience many more things on our love journey.

I’m not even sad when we fly back home. There is a lot of work to be done. Cameron needs to hit the campaign trail, and I have to get back to my games. But this vacation is what I call our foundation; it cemented our bond.

“I am so exceedingly happy neither of us gave up,” I say as we settle in our seats on the jet.

“I would have never given up.”

“Really?”

“Ah, you mean when you found me destroying that punching bag? Love, it was that or that boy who kissed you.”

At his words, a memory pops up of me playing one night and my husband coming behind me. While he caressed my neck, he looked straight at Noah and said, “Every time you see my wife, remember if you ever cross a line again...” While Noah swallowed, Cameron pressed a key and shot Noah’s avatar in the middle of his forehead.

I would be lying if I said that veiled threat wasn’t sexy as fuck.

“That boy is twenty-two.”

“Yes, stupid and reckless. He’s lucky.”
