Or almost slamming the door closed.

Just before it can shut completely, a foot materializes in the doorway, stopping it. Then he pushes open the door the rest of the way, enters the bathroom, and locks it behind him.

The next thing I know, I’m being crowded by Dominic, his eyes hooded with desire, his lips parted, his chest heaving.

“I’m going to fuck you now, Ellie, and you have to be very, very quiet, or else my bastard father and his bastard family will hear you.” He pushes against me and grips my chin, his fingers applying just enough pressure to elicit a whimper of need from me. “Can you do that for me, baby girl?”

Oh…fuck.

ELLIE

Dominic’s eyes never leave mine as he grips my waist and hefts me into the air, perching my ass on the bathroom counter.

My heart pounds in anticipation, and a flush starts in my chest and settles in my cheeks. They’re no doubt as red as my dress now.

“Dom…”

Harvey, Dana, and his brothers are just down the hall. Yes, Dana is still playing the piano—terribly, mind you—but that doesn’t negate the fact that anyone could walk by and hear us.

Yet, I still don’t push Dom away.

I actually pull him closer, my fingers curling in his suit jacket.

I can’t help but give one more half-hearted protest. “But your family?—”

He cuts my words off with a soul-claiming kiss, one I feel to the very tips of my toes. When he pulls away, his broad chest is heaving and his eyes are molten gemstones. “Bullshit. They’re not my family. You’re my family. Landon, Zane, Beck, and Ryker are my family. My moms are my family.”

I can’t help but tease him, wanting desperately to eliminate the crease between his eyebrows. “Hopefully, I’m the only ‘family’ you want to fuck.”

“Brat.” He tickles my sides, even as his eyes burn hotter. Brighter. Two blazing beacons in the semi-darkness of the scarcely lit bathroom. “But god help me, I love it when you say the word fuck.”

“Fuck?”

“Just like that, baby girl.” He closes his eyes and moans dramatically. “Again.”

“Fuck.” I lean in even closer as he exaggeratedly licks his lips with a groan of hunger. “Fuck.” I plant gentle, chaste kisses along the underside of his jawline. All amusement flees his expression, even though he doesn’t open his eyes. “Fuck.” Another kiss, this one on his cheek. “Fuck.” I allow my lips to linger a breath away from his. His eyes snap open, cementing me to the spot, and my voice is almost breathy when I deliver the death blow. “Fuck.”

He tugs my hips forward until my legs have no choice but to wrap around his waist or risk getting squished by his hard, muscular body. His lips claim mine in a bruising, possessive kiss. And just like every other time he’s kissed me, the world falls away, the stress of the last few days melting from my shoulders like snow in the early stages of spring.

All the guys make me feel safe and secure, but it’s different with Dominic. I can’t articulate the sensation with words, and even attempting to wouldn’t encapsulate the maelstrom of feelings that barrage me when I’m with him.

Maybe it’s because Dominic isn’t weighed down with as much darkness as the others. He’s full of light.

When I’m with one of the others, I feel as if I’m being protected and loved by something both dangerous and beautiful, insidious and wonderful, terrifying and amazing.

But not with Dom.

Sometimes, I wonder what his life would’ve been like if he never met Landon and the others. If he never met me. No doubt, he would be the popular quarterback of some public school, with a plethora of friends and a fan club of obsessed girls. They’d be drawn to his stunning good looks, beatific smile, and warm, verdant eyes.

Yet, he did meet Landon. He did meet me.

He’s not theirs—these random figments of my imagination, weaved together by my own self-consciousness and regret.

He’s mine.

The thought makes me kiss him harder, faster. Our tongues tangle in a dance that I don’t ever want to stop. I probably would’ve fallen straight off the bathroom counter if he wasn’t right there, holding me up, holding me steady.
