His jaw is clenched so tightly, I can practically hear his teeth grinding together. “How often?”

“Excuse me?”

“How often did you hurt yourself?”

I stare down at the puckered flesh—the jagged, uneven lines like a brand—and feel a lump rise in my throat.

Since Jane taught me the trick with foundation, I’ve been meticulous about keeping my scars covered. Only Beckett and Dom have ever seen them, and even that was by accident.

“Do you think they’re ugly?” I whisper, ignoring Landon’s question. He doesn’t want to hear my answer.

“Oh, kitten.” His face crumples, and then he collapses on the bed, his arms banded around my waist and his head in my lap. “Nothing about you could ever be ugly.” He stares up at me through glistening eyes. “I just hate that you did this to yourself in the first place. I’m not judging you. I know depression isn’t a damn choice, but…fuck, baby.” He leans back and grabs one of my arms, then brings it to his lips. He plants a gentle kiss on top of the deepest scar, his hot breath wafting across my sensitive skin. “I don’t ever want to see you hurt. It fucking kills me that you were struggling, and I wasn’t here to help you.”

“You have been helping me. You and the others…” I swallow around the onslaught of emotion that has formed a large ball in my throat. “You saved me.”

“You save us each and every day.” Landon plants another tender kiss to a different scar, his lips lingering. “I don’t think you understand how much we love you.” He peers up at me through his fringe of long, shadowy lashes.

My breath hitches—not just at his words, but at the pure devotion on his face. The love.

“Land…”

“We would do anything for you. Anything. We’ll light the whole damn world on fire and cook marshmallows over the flames, if that’s what is needed to make you smile. Who needs over seven billion people when you already found the five you want to be with forever? You, Beck, Zane, Dom, and Ryker… You guys are my family.”

My heart begins to race in my chest.

“Land…” Tentatively, I cup his cheeks and then tug his lips to mine. We don’t immediately kiss. His eyes trace my features as if he wants to memorize them, while I do the same to him.

In some ways, he’s still the same kid I befriended when we were young.

Arresting silver eyes, the color unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Brown hair, styled a little longer on the top than the sides.

Crooked grin.

But in other ways, he’s an entirely different person.

Dark scruff on his jawline.

Broad shoulders and chiseled muscles.

A hard, unyielding stare that slices through skin and bone, unveiling the darkest parts of a person’s soul.

Landon was the first boy I ever loved, and he’ll be my last. Him and the others. There’s no one else for me. Not now. Not ever. I don’t know how this relationship between the six of us will work—Ryker has vehemently declared he won’t ever share me, and I haven’t had a conversation with the other four about where we stand—but I feel in the depths of my heart that this is our future.

All of us together.

Fuck the world.

And fuck the seven billion people on it.

Our lips collide, and it’s like two galaxies crashing. The sonic boom could be heard worlds away.

It’s fierce, frantic, and hungry—completely different from the reverent way we were both staring at each other.

But that’s okay. I don’t want passionate and sensual tonight. I want rough and hard and fast—a way to release some of this aggression and rage percolating in my chest.

We undress quickly, clothes flying in all directions. Only when we’re both naked does Landon pull away to look me over. His eyes turn glazed with unbridled desire and lust.
