Chapter One

I don’t know if I want to stay here cuddled in his lap for the rest of the evening or fuck him hard and fast, so he won’t forget me when we are back to living our normal day lives.

Staring at the ocean as the sun sets behind us, I inhale another deep breath of the salty sea air.

The beach is my small slice of paradise and even though I am only twenty-two years old, this past week has been the best week of my life.

This week has been absolutely amazing and more relaxing than I had hoped it would be. But it’s the last day of spring break for me and tomorrow I am back at my classes.

I lean my head back against the shoulder of the man I’ve fallen in love with. “When do you need to leave?”

Damien’s sigh is all the answer I need.

Like me, he should have left hours ago to beat the traffic heading inland but didn’t want to end our whirlwind vacation romance without a few extra minutes together.

He lifts his arm off my stomach where it is resting to check his watch. “Like two hours ago. What about you?”

I glance at his watch.

“Same. I promised my roommate that I’d be home before dark, but there’s no way that is happening now. Tomorrow is quickly approaching, and we have to get back to reality.”

My heart protests in my chest as it constricts with pain.

Damien wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer to his chest. “I like spring break at the Cape better than real life reality.”

“I feel the same way. This week went by way too fast. If only there was a way to freeze time so we can stay here forever.”

It’s great to leave the hustle and bustle of life back home and take time to slow down and smell the salty sea air now and then.

Especially when that time leads to finding unexpected companionship that turns into love.

He turns his head to look at me. “I’ll be back here for a few weeks this summer. Why don’t you join me? You can even stay with me instead of getting your own rental.”

Wait, what?

He wants me to vacation with him in a few months.

“Really? You want to share a house with me for a few weeks?”

His chuckle causes my body to shake with his. “It’s no different from the past several days except we will have more time with one another than we did this past week.”

I met Damien the night I arrived here nine days ago and ever since then, I have been falling deeper and deeper in love with him.

After the third night of sleeping in his bed, we decided I should just move all of my stuff over here, so I wasn’t having to go back and forth all week.

Turning my head slightly in his direction, I say, “I’d love to spend a few weeks together here. I’m sure I will need another vacation by then because my life is stressful at the moment.”

His smile is so big and bright that it can light up the darkening sky. “Then it’s a date. I’ll wait here for you.”

“It’s a date that I’m looking forward to.”

If only the next couple of months could pass fast and my college graduation can come and go, so I can be with Damien again.

I turn around and straddle his lap to look at him, even though I’ve already committed his face to memory.

His hand cups my chin like it has so many times this past week.

My heart beats faster as I close my eyes and wait for him to close the distance between us and kiss me.
