All too soon, he regains his composure and finishes up a conversation he is having with a student.

My heart flutters like a million butterflies have just taken flight.

He’s here.

“Yes, the Damien. The man I spent every day and night this past week with. The same Damien that I fell in love with and who fell in love with me.”

Her expression turns serious for a moment. “What are you going to do?”

That’s a good question. And one I don’t have an answer for.

“I don’t know. I never expected in a hundred years that I would see him this soon, let alone here.”

My head spins as my heart pounds in my chest. I close my eyes for a few seconds and concentrate on my breathing.

My head feels strange, like it’s not getting enough oxygen despite me breathing in deeply.

I stand up straight and try to pretend everything is alright and normal.

Mara glances over at Damien, who is conversing with another student. “He’s our teacher.”

Her voice is low but full of concern.

“I know.” I reply dejectedly.

“You can’t date a teacher.” She says before adding, “Just kidding, I was only quoting you from last class. I say go for it. But make sure you do it discreetly.”

I let out a hearty laugh. “Girl, it's not just up to me. He looked surprised as hell to see me walk through his classroom doors, and we have a lot to talk about.”

“Of course, he’s surprised. I don’t think he was expecting to see you in his class less than twelve hours after the two of you had a very emotional goodbye.”

“Yeah, but-”

Our conversation is cut off as Damien clears his throat and addresses the class.

“Good morning. I promise not to stand up here and talk all class, so let's go over the basics. Class supplies are a yoga mat, a towel if you prefer one, and a water bottle. Any type will do.”

Looking around, I see a couple of students with a yoga mat at their feet. It didn’t even cross my mind that I would need to go out and buy a yoga mat for class.

“Now, I recommend coming to class prepared to relax. This isn’t gossip hour, so get the chitchat out of the way before you step through the doors.”

His voice is deep and commanding, reminding me of those special nights we shared.

I have to cough to suppress a moan. Mara chuckles beside me and Damien glares in our direction.

Oops.

This isn’t the type of attention I want or need on the first day of class.

He continues, “Also, coming prepared means coming dressed to get right into it. When you get to class, lock up your stuff in one of the lockers, change if you need to change, and unroll your yoga mat.”

He points toward the doors labeled Men and Women.

“You don’t have to be great, but you do have to try. If I can see you putting in the effort, then you will pass this class. A lot of you will graduate in a few months, but that doesn’t give you an easy pass to slack off.”

His gaze meets mine and I know there are a lot of unspoken words being said right now.

Mara whispers beside me. “He keeps looking your way.”
