His silence is all the proof I need to know he is just being hypocritical because I turned him down.

I continue, despite my mind telling me to stop talking. “Because if you can honestly say that you would, then you are a complete idiot.”

This seems to refuel his fire.

His anger boils up and explodes. “This isn’t about me right now. You turned me down, remember?”

“Of course, I remember! I also remember that we decided to continue being friends after I told you I didn’t reciprocate your feelings.”

Not like there is any chance of that happening after this fiasco.

My friendship with Jake is over. There is no way to repair the bridge he just burned.

“The way I see it is you have a couple of options. You can stop seeing him and go on with your life, or…” He stops pacing to stare at me.

“Or what?” I ask, eager to hear the other option because, after today, there is no way I am going to stop seeing Damien.

Damien and I are finally on a great path to a very successful relationship. There’s no way I’m giving him up. Nor will I ruin what I have worked my ass off to accomplish over the past several weeks.

“You can drop out of his class and you can continue to have this very dysfunctional up and down, on and off relationship.”

He smirks.

He actually smirks.

I want nothing more than to slap that look off his face.

Does he really think he can make me break off my relationship with Damien? I want to laugh out loud at this absurd demand.

Staring at his face, I can’t tell if he is actually serious or not.

I don’t laugh loudly like I want to, but I do chuckle. “Do you really think I am going to stop seeing him? Like seriously?”

“Yes, seriously. You will choose one of those options…tonight.”

His smirk turns to pursed lips like there is so much he wants to say, but is holding it back.

What else could he have to say?

“Just say what you want to say. It’s not like you can fuck up this friendship beyond what you already have.”

He continues to stare at me, his eyes full of hatred and rage. “So, which option will it be? Break up or drop out?”

I roll my eyes. “Neither, so now what? What makes you think you can control my life choices?”

“I have proof.”

“You have proof of what, exactly?”

What proof could he have that would make him feel this powerful?

“Well, for one, I have pictures that I got from the camera from your night with him on the porch, and I have these.”

He reaches into his bag and pulls out a folder. Not waiting for him to hand it to me, I stand up and snatch it from him.

I quickly open the folder and see pictures of Damien and me standing near his car. I flip through the stack of photos, each one getting more risqué than the last.

How did he get these?
