After a couple of minutes, I put my phone back in my pocket.

“He could just be busy.” Mara says sympathetically.

Needing a distraction, I grab our dishes and load the dishwasher. “How about we head to yoga class early? We can find a bench on the lawn and watch the freshmen run around frantically.”

“Sounds fun.” Mara picks up her bag and slings it over her shoulder.

“Let's go.”

We walk side by side and head towards the lawn, which is just another name for a large area that the school kept as grass for students to hang out and study outside.

Even though the temperature is warmer than normal, there aren’t many students out and about, but it is still early in the day.

Mara has the same thoughts. “Bummer. I was hoping to see the rushing and fumbling.”

Just as we sit down on a bench that is facing the sun, my phone dings with a text.

My heart stops for a moment. My hand freezes as I try to reach for my bag.

“Why am I so nervous?” I let out a chuckle.

Mara bounces on the bench. “Don’t leave a girl in suspense. Is it him? What did he say?”

A grin forms on my face when I see his name pop up on my screen. “It is him. He said he is at work and busy so can’t message but we will talk later.”

I send a reply back as quickly as I can, feeling a renewed energy run through me.

Mara stands and waits for me to follow.

“Not to be a Debbie Downer and rain on your parade, but it is time for yoga class. Remind me again why we are taking yoga?”

“Because it is an elective and a requirement in order to graduate. At least it is an easy class and will keep us flexible.”

I pretend I don’t see her raised eyebrow as I walk past her.

She catches up to me and nudges me in the arm. “I need to know more about this Damien guy, since you refused to tell me much over break.”

“What do you want to know? You pretty much know everything.”

Of course, there wasn’t a chance in hell I would tell her every little detail of what was going on, but she knows more than anyone else.

“Wrong. I know the gist of everything. You were very vague. I don’t even know what he looks like.” She exclaims.

“Tall, tan, and totally hot.” I pause as she lets out a frustrated groan.

Chuckling, I continue. “Just kidding, well, not really. He is really tall and tan and, of course, I think he is hot, but he is muscular without being a gym rat.”

He’s strong enough to pick me up and carry me.

Before I let my memories drag me to a place I don’t want to go right now, I shake the thoughts away.

“His chest has a little bit of hair that only adds to his masculinity. He kept his beard trimmed short and stubbly, and oh my God, it was incredible in certain areas.”

My face blushes bright red as I realize what I just admitted.

Mara skips ahead to open the door to the building. “Oooh, now I have got to meet him and find out if he has a single brother or cousin.”

“We didn’t talk about our families much, but he never mentioned any siblings, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.”
