“Jealous, brother?” I smiled.

“Of sleep? Fuck yeah, I am!”

“I don’t know why you all are complaining. I slept like a baby last night,” Frank said as we all looked at him.

God, I loved Frank. I really did, but there were times I worried about the brother. The big teddy bear was just too oblivious sometimes.

“Anyway.” King rolled his eyes before continuing. “Mike wants Henley at the police station today at two o’clock. He knows you will be accompanying her. The Feds will be there to ask her some questions. Don’t let those fucks run roughshod over you. Got me? I’m sending Priest with you as backup.”

“Understood. What about her sister?” I inquired, sitting up straight.

“Frank and Pyro are going to sit down with her and get what they can. From there, we will start our own investigation. I don’t need to remind you that you are not to leave Henley’s side. Until we find out who the fucker is that threatened her, she is in danger.”

“Understood. Is that all?” I asked, eager to get back upstairs to Henley.

“No.” King sighed, leaning back in his chair, rubbing his hands down his face. “There is one more thing and before you say anything, I only found out about it this morning.”

“Found out what?”

Instead of answering me, the church door opened and in walked Bailey, looking everywhere but at me.

“Come in, Cupcake.”

“I don’t want to.”

“Too bad. You started this shit and now I’m ending it.”

“I didn’t start shit. He did when he lied to me,” she said, pointing her little finger at me.

Looking from King to Bailey, I wondered what the fuck was going on. I didn’t do shit. I know I didn’t. I was in my room all night, fucking my woman into oblivion. I didn’t have time to do anything else.

Neither looked happy.

In fact, King looked livid and Bailey looked contrite.

If that wasn’t alarming, I didn’t know what was.

“Now, Avonleigh Montclair.”

My best friend growled, walking in and shutting the door behind her. Walking over to King, she stood stiffly next to him, before he yanked her into his lap. “Now, before Bailey says what she needs to say, I want to be crystal clear. There will be no more feuds between the two of you. Ever. Whatever problems you both have with each other, you will both sit down and talk it out like adults. Am I clear?”

Bailey huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “Fine.”

When King looked at me, I frowned. “I don’t understand. Bails and I are good. There’s no feud between us. Is there, Bails?”

When my best friend didn’t say shit, I looked at King, who said. “Bailey, is there something you want to tell Scribe?”

“Not really.”

“Now, woman.”

Sighing, Bailey looked at me. “Just remember, I love you and you are my bestie. Per the best friend code, you can’t get mad at me, okay?”

Narrowing my eyes, I leaned forward in my chair. “What did you do now, Bails?”

“It happened before.”

“What happened before?”
