“Well, curb your violent tendencies cause the asshat just walked in,” Bailey sneered.

Turning, I said nothing as Zach Zimmerman, the number one tormenter of my childhood, walked into the Irish Rose Tavern. I never really liked Zach. There was something about him that always bugged me. He was always too sure of himself. Too confident. As we got older, that confidence grew into entitlement. The man didn’t like being told what to do. That was for sure. His demeanor was off-putting to the point of being worrisome.

“Look how smug he is,” Skylar sneered. “He thinks he’s the fucking cat’s meow.”

“More like cat-shit,” Bailey growled. “He’s a fucking creeper. It’s written all over him.”

“He’s a fucking prick,” Devlyn added. “Kicked his ass once when I caught him picking on Henley. Fucker thought it was funny that a girl was standing up to him. He actually laughed at me until I kicked his ass. Wasn’t laughing when I kicked him in the balls, though.”

“Nope,” I giggled, remembering the day clearly. “He was crying.”

“I tried talking with the principal about him, but Principal Kellerman won’t do anything about it. Says Mr. Zimmerman has a stellar reputation, and he can’t fire him because of one kid’s accusation without proof.”

“Proof of what?” I asked curiously.

“According to Cameron, Mr. Zimmerman is specifically picking on him because he’s part of the club. Cameron said he treats him differently. Picks on him, makes fun of him in front of the class.”

“What’s the club have to do with it?” Jessica asked.

“Cameron said that Mr. Zimmerman calls everyone associated with the club gang members. That we’re all criminals and should be in jail where we belong.”

“You need to take it to the school board, Sky,” Claudia stated. “I’m betting Cameron isn’t the only kid who’s had problems with him.”

“Claudia’s right.” Devlyn nodded. “Asshat has been vocal at the town meetings. He hates the Sons of Hell and everything they’re about. He firmly believes that the club is bringing down property values. That’s why no one wants to invest in our little town. The mayor agreed with him.”

“Henley, you went to college. Have you ever thought about applying to become a teacher?” Sugar asked, looking at me.

“Huh.” I froze as Devlyn chuckled.

“She’d have to give up her sexy night job first.”

Narrowing my eyes, I glared at my sister.

“What sexy night job?” Bailey asked, suddenly perking up.

“Don’t say it,” I growled, looking at Devlyn and Sugar.

“I’m serious, Henley.” Sugar ignored me, adding, “Think about it. You could make twice what you are making now, and I’d feel a lot better when my boys start school.”

“True. She only makes a few hundred for reading those books.”

“Devlyn,” I growled. “Shut up.”

“What sexy night job?” Jessica grinned, leaning forward curiously.

Before I could stop her, my sister outed me. “Henley reads erotic romance online to the masses for money.”

“OH. MY. GOD!” Bailey squealed happily, fidgeting in her seat as she reached for her cellphone. “No way! What site?”

“EroticAudibleDesires.com.”

Yep.

Mortification complete.

The next thing I knew, everyone had their phones out, quickly typing in the website I belonged to.

There wasn’t a rock small enough for me to disappear under.
