I wasn’t falling for it this time.

I had more important shit to deal with, like finding the motherfucker who did the live feed. Instead, I was dealing with whatever fucked-up asinine shit my wife concocted with those witches.

“Just what in the hell was your plan, woman?”

When Bailey sniffed and looked up at me, I dared not move.

She wasn’t playing around.

Her eyes were red and puffy.

She was really upset.

Kneeling before her, I took her hands in mine. “What happened now? What’s wrong?”

She sniffed. “I don’t wanna get fat.”

“What?” I frowned, confused. “Cupcake, you are not fat. Who told you that?”

“It was just supposed to be a joke, you know. I didn’t mean anything by it, but I guess the joke’s on me.”

She was making no sense.

She was all over the place.

Taking a deep breath, I asked, “What was a joke, Cupcake?”

“When I poked holes in Scribe’s condoms.”

Confused, I sighed. “Baby, you’re not making sense. Scribe isn’t angry at you, honey. I mean, he was for a little bit, but everything is good between you two now.”

“No, it’s not!” she shouted, making me flinch. “Don’t you see?”

Honestly, I didn’t see shit.

I was so fucking confused. I didn’t know whether to wipe my watch or wind my butt.

Taking a deep breath, I asked, “Cupcake, I’m gonna need you to explain this to me. What does your birth control have to do with anything?”

“I went to see Claudia like you asked.”

“And?” I whispered, my heart rate picking up.

“She just called.”

“And?”

Bailey looked at me and whispered, “I’m pregnant.”

That’s when the floor swallowed me whole.

Holy fuck.

I was going to be a dad.

Pyro

“Frank, I turned the water off, buddy,” I growled from under the sink. “I’ll have this fixed in a jiffy. I swear.”
