“The hospital really could use a spokesperson regarding such tests. Someone who could speak in regards to cancer and what is available for testing and treatment. I think with your experiences, you might be able to reach people who we haven’t. Would you be willing to share your story with others?”

“Me? I...” She turned to me and I nodded. Ovi looked back at Finn and said, “I guess I could do that.”

“Great. My wife and I will be in contact with you and we can get this pulled together over the next several months,” he said.

“Several months?” she stammered.

“Yes. I’d like to be able to commit to having it completed sooner, but Reesa just gave birth to our daughter three months ago and still is juggling too much. Not easy running a country, being a new mother, and still putting up with me,” he smiled.

“I have no idea how she does it,” Ovi said, then quickly added, “I mean being a mother and running a country.”

Finn chuckled. “I know what you meant. The hospital requires a lot of hours so I am not as helpful or supportive as I’d like to be. Reesa is amazing, and Ziva Henderson is here giving her a hand when we need it,” Finn explained. “But if you’re willing to help with this project, we really would appreciate it. It will take a lot of preparation, but I think in the long run it will help a lot of people who might not survive without early detection. Was there a reason why you can’t do it?” Finn asked.

“No. No reason at all,” she said.

We left his office and as soon as we got back in the SUV, she turned to me and said, “Don’t say it. Not one word.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I lied. My grin must have said it all. She wasn’t going to be leaving in a month, or two. She just committed herself to work with the president of Tabiq as the hospital's spokesperson.

Looks like Tabiq needs you as much as I do.

She huffed. “You don’t have to look so happy about this.”

“I can’t help it. It’s been a day of wonderful news. I think we should go out and celebrate,” I suggested.

“As long as you keep your promise,” she said. I raised my brow and she added, “I get a backrub tonight.”

Leaning over the center console, I kissed her. “I’ll give you a backrub every night for the rest of your life if it means you stay with me.”

She looked up at me and said, “That’s one tempting offer, but just so you know, the other day you didn’t deliver on your promise.”

“I beg to differ.”

“No, Niko. Your hands started on my back but somehow, they didn’t stay there very long,” she stated.

“I believe that is because you rolled over. I was more than happy to expand on my offer and rub your front. Got to give equal attention you know,” I teased.

“Now that is an offer that I don’t think I can pass on. Maybe I’ll hold off on making my decision and see what else I can negotiate out of you.”

With those eyes, I’d give you the world. But for now, you’ve got my heart.

CHAPTER 20

Ovi

I rolled over and thought I’d find the bed vacant next to me, but Niko was fast asleep. If he was here, then who was in the house?

Shaking Niko I whispered, “Wake up. Someone is in the house.”

It took a second, but my words shook him out of his sleep. He was out of the bed standing there naked, looking ready to fight whoever it was. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”

I grabbed hold of his hand and said, “You can’t go out like that.”

“Ovi I...”

“Please. Just lock the bedroom door and we’ll call the police. I don’t want anything to happen to you,” I said.

“Nothing will.”
