And Nathan and Crew and I need to have a talk.

CHAPTER 5

Michael

After another tenminutes of chatting, Dani shivers and I use it as an excuse to say goodnight to Mark and Marissa. “I should get her inside.”

“Of course. Nice to meet you,” Mark says.

“We’ll see you,” I say. And I mean it. I hope to further this potential friendship.

“They’re so nice,” Dani says as we step inside and head downstairs.

“They are. Dinner or drinks with them sounds good. What do you think?”

She laughs. “I’d love to. But that’s not really Nathan’s thing.”

“No. But…” I pause. “We could go without him. Just you and me.”

She looks up at me. “Yes, I guess we could. He’d probably appreciate that.”

“I’m sure he would.” I steer her toward the primary bathroom where the enormous soaker tub is. “You should take a hot bath and warm up.”

“Are you coming in with me?” she asks with a little smile.

I reach up into the cupboard and withdraw her favorite bubble bath. “I’ll come up and scrub your back later. But you just relax for a while.”

She sighs a happy sigh. “That sounds nice.”

I grin. The three of us guys keep her “busy.” Especially when she’s naked. She deserves some down time to herself too.

I go to the tub and start running the water. I know exactly the temperature she likes best. She undresses as I pour in the bubble bath. She puts her hair up and I study her body unabashedly.

Yes, I get hard. I will never not want her. But I can leave her alone when she needs some time to herself.

I also need to have an important conversation and it’s better if I broach this subject with Nathan and Crew without Dani. No, we shouldn’t have big discussions that affect all of us without her, but I honestly don’t know how the guys will feel about what I’m going to say and in this case, they probably need to hear what I’m thinking about first.

I hold out my hand to Dani and she takes it, letting me help her into the tub. She sighs as she sinks into the bubbles. “Thank you, Michael.”

I kiss her forehead. “Love you.”

“Love you, too.” Her eyes slide shut as she leans her head back.

I leave her soaking and go find my other two roommates.

My friends.

For now, anyway.

No, don’t think that way. They won’t be surprised by what you’re going to say.

No, not surprised. But they might not like it.

I find them both in the kitchen.

Nathan is on one of the stools at the counter, scrolling through his emails on his phone. Crew is, of course, rummaging in the fridge.

"Hey, I need to talk to you guys about something,” I say, trying to sound casual.
