“They are?” Love narrows her eyes before stepping between her mom and me.
“Yes,” I reply, not moving a muscle.
Love means the world to Audrey. It would only take a few words from her to shut down whatever is happening between us, no matter how drawn we are to each other.
“If that’s okay with you, of course.”
“Love, my dad is a good guy. Besides, if he hurts your mom, I’ll help you hide the body.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence, Squirt.”

Every muscle in my body tenses, bracing for whatever Love has to say.
“Okay.” Love shrugs her shoulders before throwing an arm over Jade’s shoulders. “I’ll walk you outside. The last thing I want to do is see our parents making out.”
“I second that.” Jade’s nose wrinkles in disgust before she winks at me. Love pulls the door open, motioning forJade to head outside first before she follows, leaving the door open.
“I guess that’s my cue to leave.” I chuckle, stepping out the door as Audrey pulls it closed behind her, leaning against it.
“Call me later?” she asks, pulling out her phone and handing it to me.
“Wild horses couldn’t stop me.” I quickly plug my number into her phone and shoot off a text to myself. “I’ll talk to you soon.” I smile before planting a kiss on her forehead and heading down the driveway.

The blaring sound of my cell phone pulls me from a very pleasant dream of Audrey’s lips pressed against mine in a very passionate kiss. I groan loudly, slapping my hand along the nightstand beside my bed, silencing the alarm on my cell phone. I stare at the ceiling, my mind racing with images of her laid out on the bed beside me.
