I shook my head. "No. Of course not." I tilted the cat to him, pulling my blazer to the side so he could get a good look at the feline. "It's a cat."

"A cat?"

"I found it in the rain."

He opened his mouth to say something but then paused. "We should probably have this conversation in my car."

Alexander opened the passenger door for me. I climbed in with quiet thanks. He got into the driver’s seat and started the car up.

"So, you found a cat? On the side of the road and you picked it up?"

He turned on the heater and I welcomed the instant warmth.

"It’s paw is hurt," I explained. "I couldn't just leave it there. I need to take it to a shelter."

"I'll drive you."

"You don't have to do that."

"I want to."

I smiled gratefully at him. He drove smoothly. I leaned my head back on the seat and watched him.

He'd taken off his coat and the sleeves of his cotton blue button-up were pushed up his arms. His forearms were exposed. They were corded with muscles, and I couldn't break my gaze from them.

Alexander and I had tried to continue what we started in the elevator but to no avail. Whenever we were together, there was always a third party involved. We could do little more than steal heated kisses in his office, and even those were few and far between.

Staring at him ignited that same fire in me. If it wasn't for the kitty in my arms, I would have leaned over the console and showed Alexander exactly how glad I was to see him.

That thought alone made my spine tingle.

The drive to the shelter was quick. In no time we were dropping the cat off and he was taking me back home.

He parked outside my apartment complex. A small grin was on his face as he turned to face me.

"Do you always pick up cats on the side of the road?"

"Stop talking," was my only reply as I climbed over the console and into his lap. I straddled him, wrapped my hands around his neck, and then kissed him.

A deep sigh escaped me at the feeling of his lips on mine. It took him a split second to realize what was going on, and then he was kissing me back.

I bit down on his lip and Alexander hissed. I ran my tongue over the bite soothingly and his hands came to rest on the small of my back.

He pulled away from the kiss and slid a hand from my waist up to my shoulder blades. Dipping his head, he took my pulse point between his teeth, and I gasped in ecstasy.

The hand on my waist slowly began inching up my back. His fingers skimmed the curve of my spine and I whimpered.

He unbuttoned my shirt and scraped his teeth against my chest gently. Then, he latched onto the top of my breast and sucked hard on the skin. I melted against him.

The wondrous things this man did with his lips.

I ground down on him forcefully causing him to groan into my mouth. I reached down for the buckle of his belt, but he stopped me.

I looked at him questioningly, my head dizzy with want.

"Not now," he said shakily. "And definitely not here."

I stared in surprise. "You were the one who said we'd make it happen next time. This is next time." I reached for his belt again, but he held onto my hands.
