His eyes darken, and he steps closer, looming over me. “Careful, Madison. We don’t want anyone to overhear you, do we?”

I shudder as his voice takes on a menacing tone.

My voice barely a whisper, I reply, “Sorry, I didn’t think...”

He cuts me off, stepping closer, his eyes never leaving mine. “You think too much,” he declares, his voice barely above a whisper. “Sometimes, it’s better to feel.”

The intensity of his stare and the charged atmosphere between us are electric. I swallow hard, trying not to think about how badly I want him. “I wanted you to make me feel last night, but you refused.”

His jaw clenches. “Because it wasn’t the right place or time, little doe.” He moves closer, so there’s barely an inch between us. “Don’t worry. I intend to make you mine when the time is right.”

I shake my head. “It’s forbidden for you to be with a woman.”

His lips twitch as if he’s debating whether to laugh or frown. “It is,” he admits, and I can see the struggle in his eyes. “But I won’t tell if you don’t.”

My breath catches in my throat. “I won’t tell,” I promise, my voice trembling.

Dante’s lips curve into a smile, and he leans closer, his breath warm against my cheek. “Good,” he murmurs.

His hand reaches up, his fingers gently tucking a loose curl behind my ear. His touch makes my heart flutter in my chest.

I glance around, painfully aware that we’re in a public place, but the store is pretty empty.

“I intend to make you feel, little doe,” he breathes, leaning close to my ear. “Really feel. And once I do, there’s no going back.” His words ignite a flutter of excitement in my stomach. Forbidden or not, I know I’m playing with fire. But with Dante, I can’t help but want to get burned.

His gaze never leaves mine. “Would you like to have dinner at my place tonight?”

I blink. “Are priests allowed to invite women to their houses for dinner?” I tease, trying to lighten the thick tension in the air.

“I think I’m long past doing things I’m allowed to do, don’t you, little doe?” He moves closer, his body heat warming me through my clothes. I want to kiss him, touch him, but I refrain. “Priests most certainly aren’t allowed to eat out their parishioners in the sanctity of the church, and yet I did that twice, didn’t I?”

I know what this dinner would mean. Dante didn’t want to cross the line in the church and take my virginity, but dinner would lead to sex. And it’s what I want. I know it’s risky and playing with fire, but haven’t we already jumped into the inferno? “Alright,” I say, my voice barely above a whisper. “I’d like that.”

His eyes light up, and for a moment, all the darkness that usually swirls in his gaze fades away. We’re walking a dangerous path, but it’s a path we’re choosing willingly.

DANTE

My pretty little doe has no idea what she’s agreed to.

She’s agreed to dinner with a man so obsessed with her that he snuck into her home and masturbated in her fucking closet. I’m corrupt. There are no limits when it comes to me. And I want to corrupt Madison. Break her, bend her, and put her all back together again, only different.

Her light is like a fucking magnet for my darkness. A darkness I’ve been trying to run away from, trying to bury deep.

She nervously fiddles with the sleeve of her shirt. “How have you been?” she asks.

I smirk. “Since this morning? Fine.” I like seeing her uncomfortable in my presence. The priestly side of me is utterly obliterated. I want to control her fear and desire in ways I’ve not thought about for four years.

“You seem a little different,” she observes.

A little is an understatement.

“Maybe because I’m not in my priest outfit right now.”

She bites her bottom lip innocently, but it makes me harder than nails. It’ll be a miracle if we make it through this dinner without me eating her first.

She attempts to lighten the atmosphere, her voice shaky, “What’s your favorite color?”
