Kids? He was talking kids? How crazy was that? The doctor said I could have kids. Studies showed that pregnancy was no different for someone with MS than someone without. The issue would be chasing after a two year old.

He hooked his arm under my leg and brought it up onto his hip. His thumb began to slowly caress my clit in circles. The party in my sex became a riot of warmth and tingles, and Jesus, I was going to come … and it was too fast. And I wanted this to last forever. “Ream,” I whispered.

“That’s it, baby.” He kissed me again and the swirling tornado that was building started to teeter on edge.

“God, Ream. Harder.”

His movements stopped.

I inhaled sharply, my eyes flying open. He was so still, his eyes wide open and staring, but he wasn’t staring at me. It was as if he was somewhere else. “Ream?” He didn’t move and I felt the tremble shift through his body. “Ream?” I said louder.

“Kat?” He suddenly shook his head as if he was clearing it from whatever place he’d been, and then it was like nothing happened and the desire swam in his eyes.

“Baby, where did you—”

“Grab my cock.” His jaw was clenched and his tone was gruff as if he was in pain.

“Ream—”

“Now, Kat.” He cut me off again while taking my hand. He wrapped it around his cock and squeezed. I saw the deep grooves between his eyes as if he was fighting something. “We’re coming together.”

My fingers curled around his length and the throbbing heat of him jerked. “Fuck. That’s it.” He groaned as I tightened my grip and then moved up and down before stopping and stroking farther down to cup his balls then back up again.

His pushed two fingers inside me again and I forgot all about the look on his face.

I pumped then caressed until I felt the tension in him rising. “Christ,” he said as he started stroking me with his thumb again. “Oh God. You close, baby?”

I nodded because honestly words were not in my realm of capability right now.

“Faster,” he ordered.

I did and he did, just before I felt that sweet tightening in my belly and then the slam of a tidal wave over me like a wall of heat. His cock shuddered in my hand, jerked, then I felt liquid heat spill onto my skin, only to be quickly washed away by the water.

I was still tingling and sensitive as he pulled his fingers out of me and let my leg slide back down. I leaned against the wall, eyes closed, deep breaths, as I took in what just happened.

He kissed me again, this time slow and soft, the plush velvet touch of his lips against mine, tongue exploring and tender. He held me on either side of my head as he did it, and it was sweet, not something I expected from Ream. He was all intensity when he argued with me, with his kisses, with everything. But I’d seen way more to him this weekend. I saw the side of him I’d forgotten about from when we’d first met.

We didn’t say anything as he gently washed me everywhere, his hands caressing over my body as if I was a precious gem he was afraid to break. A complete contrast to what we’d done five minutes ago.

When I went to wash him, he stiffened and moved away. Ream shut off the water and helped me out of the tub.

He wrapped me in a towel then proceeded to dry me with another. Even taking each foot and going between my toes. It was silly but I thanked God that I had on fancy red nail polish with silver swirls on my big toes. He ruffled my hair with the towel then tossed it on the counter before pulling me into his arms.

“My ice cream good enough for you, baby.”

I burst out laughing and then he smothered it with a sweet soul claiming kiss.

Ream and I spent the next several hours making dinner and drinking wine and sitting out on the deck watching the sun go down. It was quiet and calm over the water, and I hadn’t felt so relaxed with Ream—ever. There was still the sexual tension of a guitar string being pulled taut, but the small touches and Ream’s kisses were sweet and I soaked it up.

When he pulled his phone from his pocket and slid it across the table to me, I was surprised because I’d lost the wager. Besides, I really hadn’t even thought of calling Emily or Matt.

He stood. “She’s called three times. I’ll do the dishes.”

I reached for his hand and the familiar sparks scintillated through me as our fingers touched. “Thank you.” I squeezed his hand. “For bringing me here.”

He nodded then picked up our plates and went inside.

I called Emily and wasn’t surprised when I heard Logan’s voice instead, since it was Ream’s phone I was using.

“Where are you? You missed recording.” Logan skipped any niceties and went directly to the point.

“It’s me.”

He grunted, then there was silence, and then Emily’s voice on the other end.

“Kat. What the hell? Where are you? Matt says Ream took off with you. Then I get a message from Ream that you’re with him, but he doesn’t say where. Are you okay?”

“Yeah we are—”

“When are you coming back? Is he being—”

“Emily. I’m fine. We’re fine.”

“You are?” I heard her muffled words to Logan, the arguing, and then I heard Crisis shouting something in the background that I thought was “I told you so.”

“Yeah. We’re good. Ream and I had some shit to work out … as you know. Tell Logan it’s buried.” I heard her tell him and then his gruff response, “about fuckin’ time.”

“We just had dinner and we’ll be back tomorrow.”

“You just had dinner?”

“Well yeah.” I looked over my shoulder to make certain Ream was still inside and then whispered, “And, Eme, never told you this before but … he shaves. And it rocks.”
