He shrugged. “Ithas to be.”

“And if I don’twant that?”

He gave her anarrow-eyed look. “Take it or leave it.”

“You call theshots, is that it?”

“Yes.” Hesaid tersely. “So, decide now if that’s something you canwork with.”

Tossing back theliquor without choking, Allison was aware of his admiration as sheput away the glass. “Shall we?”

“Let’sgo.” Finishing his own drink, he moved ahead, careful not totouch her.

The stairs were wideand impressive, the banister a shiny wood the color of aged whiskey. He led the way towards a solid pair of double doors. Pushing themopen, he moved back for her to climb the shallow stairs that led intoa comfortable sitting room with a large screen TV mounted on thewall.

Leading the way, hestepped into a bedroom that was easily four times the size of her ownbedroom at the apartment. It was decorated in shades of gray andblue. The bed was on a dais with steps leading up. The ceiling washigh and arched with a window letting in the moonlight.

“What now?”She asked him softly.

“You take offyour clothes.”

“I’d likeyou to do it.”

Chapter 11

He stood looking ather for a few minutes before walking over to stand in front of her.She was wearing a emerald-green sweater over black leggings with kneehigh boots.

He wanted her so muchhe could feel his cock aching. He didn’t want to rush intothings, but the heat spreading throughout his body wasn’t goingto make it possible for him to take it slow.

Bridging the distancebetween them, he cupped her face, bringing it up so he could kissher. His tongue darted into her mouth and he swallowed her moan. Herhands came up to grasp his sweater, before going around his neck. Heshould get on with it, he thought hazily.

There shouldn’tbe any intimacy, but he couldn’t help it. She tasted sweet, like honey and the whiskey he’d given her. He was drowning inthe kiss, his body moving against hers restlessly. Moving his handsfrom her face, he wrapped them around her back to touch her bareskin.

She was soft, herealized with a sharp intake of breath. Lifting the sweater up, heended the kiss so he could pull it over her head. Another groanescaped him as he stared at her breasts, cupped lovingly in sheerblack lace. He unhooked the front clasp of her bra and pushed thestraps off her shoulders.

He cupped herbreasts, unable to help himself and felt her tremors as he rubbed histhumbs over the wide nipples. His body tightened even more when theypuckered in response.

Dropping his hands,he led her up the steps and bent to take off her boots and then herleggings, leaving the matching black lace of her underwear on as hestepped back to remove his clothing.

The only light in theroom came from the glow from the fireplace and the silver moonhovering above the glass dome ceiling, but it was enough for her tosee the raised scars ribboning his chest and the taut stomach. Shemust have uttered something, she wasn’t quite sure what it was,but it had his head jerking up.

“Does it turnyou on?” He asked her harshly, his face taut with anger.

“No.” Shewhispered hoarsely. Going on her knees, she reached out to touch thescars, the longest one from his left shoulder to his arm. “I’mso sorry.”

His hands lifted togrip her wrists, dragging her hands away from his chest.

“Idon’t need your pity.”

Her eyes flashed. “Itwasn’t pity.”

“No.”Flinging her hands away, he turned so she could see the thin scars onhis back. Allison had to swallow the cry as she stared at the muscledback scarred for life by a man who was supposed to protect him.

“Nash.”

“How aboutnow?” He turned to face her and went still at the agonized lookon her beautiful face. Tears were spilling down her cheeks and herchin was quivering.

“Don’t!”He told her sharply, automatically moving to cup her face. “Idon’t want you shedding tears for me either.”
