"Why the hellwould I want to do that?" She bit out. "I know you werenever loved, but loving someone means giving them the freedom tochoose. I love you, Nash, and that means I accept you for who youare. Nothing more."
His eyes bored intohers and she saw the tension ebbing away slowly. "I -I can’tlove you." He whispered hoarsely. "But, oh Christ, I wantyou so much I can’t bear it."
His admission wassweeter to her than any declaration of love and she felt her heartmelting.
"We’lltake it from there." She told him gently. Lifting her hands, sheframed his beloved face, smoothing away the lines of tension there."I’m here to stay, darling. Whenever you’re ready tosay the words. I’m not giving you an ultimatum. Whenever you’reready to acknowledge that we belong together, I’m here."
She drew him to her,kissing his lips, her touch soft and unbearably potent. His long,lean body shuddered under the tender administration and he foundhimself responding in kind. His lips opened on hers beforetentatively dipping his tongue into her mouth.
Her arms came aroundhim, fingers tangling with his dark hair as she gave herselfwholeheartedly to him. This complex and beautiful man who’dcaptured her heart from the moment she met him. Her fingers slid downhis neck, massaging the flesh gently.
The kiss increased inpassion and heat and she found herself being crushed against him ashe brought her closer, his body rigid with need.
His hands werewandering restlessly down her back, moving downward until he wasgripping her curves and pressing her against him. His hips undulatedagainst her lower body making her aware of how aroused he was.
His tongue tangledwith hers as the insanity roared throughout his body. He needed her,that much he couldn’t deny. He had to have her or he was goingto die a slow and painful death.
He wanted to feel herbody against his, wanted to be inside her with nothing between themand that stunned him enough that he ended the kiss, his breathingragged, his chest heaving.
"Nash?"
Her soft seductivevoice chafed against his nerves and made him weak.
"I need you."He admitted thickly.
“You have me.”She whispered.
“I can’tmake it upstairs. I need you right here and now."
Stepping back, sheundressed hurriedly and stood before him, the lights from the firecasting shadows over her voluptuous curves. He started to reach forher again, but realized he was still fully dressed. Getting rid ofthe clothes, he reached for the blankets and cushions to place themin front of the hearth.
Turning toward her,he took her hand and pulled her down, lowering himself next to her.His eyes took in her beauty hungrily. He’d been away from herfor almost a week and he hadn’t been able to stop thinking ofher.
"I needed youwith me." The words were dragged from him or so it seemed. "WhenI was away, I couldn’t stop wanting you."
"Now you’reback." Her fingers smoothed the hairs on his chest and lingeredon his scars. "I think they need my lips again."
He laughed at that,feeling the comfort stealing over him and settling him.
"I think sotoo." His eyes locked with hers. "I’m not usinganything. I want to feel you, all of you."
She knew what he wassaying and felt the happiness burst inside her. "I want thattoo." Her hands went around his neck. "I love you,darling."
She almost wept whenshe felt him shudder.
"You don't knowme." His deep voice was strained, his hands framing her faceshaking.
"What I know, Ilove." She brushed his lips with hers. "I want to knowmore, eventually. But now I need my man inside me."
"Your man?"
"Yes. I’myours, Nash, and you’re mine and I’m fierce about that. Ipromise to dedicate and commit myself to you for the rest of mylife."
"You can’t-"
"I’m notdone." She gripped his thick wrists, her eyes level on his."We’re going to get through this. Your past. I’m notasking you to open up and tell me everything right now, but I’mnot going to allow you to walk all over me, because that isn’tlove.
We’ll argue, Ihave no doubts about that. You’re going to piss me off and fornow, I’m going to respect your wish for us to keep this betweenus."
