"Except for thesickness." Odette said mildly, feeling the excitement rushingthrough her. She’d taken two pregnancy tests to confirm, buthadn’t said anything to Dion, knowing he wanted the officialconfirmation.

"Yourapproximate due date will be the early part of February."

"Hopefully noton Valentine's Day."

"Or mybirthday." Dion was beside himself with happiness.

"Oh yes, yourbirthday is February tenth."

He raised hiseyebrows. "You remembered."

She rolled her eyesat him, forgetting the doctor who was watching this with interest."We used to talk about you missed being born on Valentine'sDay,"

She turned to thewoman. "What now?"

"Now, Iprescribe something for the sickness and give you some vitamins. Aswell as the date for your next appointment. If there’s anythingwrong, just give me a call. I suppose I don’t have to tell youto eat as healthy as possible. I’m going to give you a guide tohealthy eating for pregnant women."

"I’m not amilk-drinking person."

"You’regoing to have to start." Pushing away from her desk, Dr.Mitchell went to get some flyers. "It's all about the personforming inside you. We’re going to do our utmost best to makesure it's healthy." She handed the leaflets to Odette. "Ican recommend some books-"

"I already havea stack of them."

"That's always agood idea. Let me get the nurse to make up a package." Leavingthe room, she closed the door behind her.

"I told you."

"You did."Lifting her hand, he brushed his lips against the skin and she had tofight the tremors that came. "I don't know how to thank you."

"You can startby buying me diamonds." She told him lightly.

"Absolutely. Thebiggest one there is."

"Let's hold offon that until after I hand you the baby."

"I’mthinking of it as our baby."

"We’llsee." She turned in relief when the doctor came back in with thepackage.

"Should we goand have lunch to celebrate?"

She wanted to bealone, she needed to be with him but was wise enough to go with thefirst option. She was emotional right now and being near him in thedoctor's office had made her acutely aware of his cologne and the waythe touch of his lips on her skin. She’d started thinking ofhis lips elsewhere on her body.

"I have somework to do." She told him with a forced smile, fiercely hopinghe wasn’t seeing through her flimsy excuse. He knew her welland lying wasn’t something she was good at.

"Oh." Shealmost gave in at the disappointed look on his face.

"I’m sureyour Mother would love to hear the news and I - we can do somethingthis weekend."

"I’m outof town. Milan, the new store has hit a snag and I have to go andsort things out."

"I see. Howlong?"

"A week."He looked anxious. "I can’t get out of it."
