Lydia stared at heras if she’d lost her mind. "Oh, that's wonderful. I had noidea you were a humanitarian."

Odette had to use theglass to hide the smile. "For a friend. I can’t go intodetails, but I was asked and I said yes and now I’m pregnant."

"Which friend?"

"Dion Horton andI’m counting on you to be discreet. This can’t get out."

"Oh, believe me,I won’t be repeating it. You’re not doing it for themoney? He’s a multi-billionaire!”

“He’s mybest friend and he needed a favor." She repeated firmly. "Wehave papers drawn up of course, and he’ll be paying all theexpenses."

"Well,naturally."

"You should seehow happy he is."

"And you?"Lydia was still staring at her.

"When you havethis man's baby, are you going to just walk away?"

She shrugged. "Hesaid something about us being co-parents."

"Did you sayyes? What happens when you meet someone in the future?"

"We’re nottogether."

"I know whathappened to him in the past and how ugly it was. I also know thatyou’ve been friends for years but this is too much."

"Nothing is toomuch to do for a friend."

"Are youserious? You’re talking about another human being here. You’renot lending someone your car or a few thousand dollars. Things couldgo wrong and blow up in your face."

"Thanks for thesupport." Odette told her dryly.

"You expect meto be supportive?"

"I expect you tounderstand."

"How?"Lydia threw up her hands. "You’re changing your life for aman who’s just a friend."

"He isn’t'just a friend'." She muttered.

"You do. You’rein love with him."
