He was determined togive her the ultimate New York experience. He knew she’dvisited several times, but he wanted to show her his side of thecity. They went for rides on the ferry. Took cabs to expensiverestaurants as well as visiting several art galleries and museums.

He knew they werebeing stalked by reporters who threw questions at them, but his onlycomment had been to a very personal question, which was a cool: “Whatdo you think?”

She’d seentheir photos plastered all over the internet, but she didn’tmind. She was having fun with him. He was a very attentive date andshe could see why women fell for him. He made you the object of hisattention and made you feel incredibly special.

He’d lean overand pat her mouth with the napkin, making the simple gesturesomething that was incredibly intimate. His eyes would be focused onher and he gazed at her in an way that had the blood heating upinside her.

It was exhilaratingbeing with him as not only a friend, but as his lover as well. Hehadn’t said the words she was dying to hear, but she could feelhe was already there. He’d cling to her after they made love, holding her as if he didn’t want to let her go.

He’d given hera tour of the building where the superstore would be housed and she’dtold him she was intrigued by it. “I can see the displays inthe windows.”

“I’veemployed the best in the business. There’ll be themes atcertain times of the year. No boring mannequins draped in clothing. It’s going to be telling a story. Something to draw thecustomers in. They won’t just be customers, but part of thestore as well.” He was excited about it and she could tell fromthe way he spoke he was determined to make it happen. “Thefirst one will be Christmas on 34th street.”

“Like ‘Miracleon 34th street.’”

“Somethinglike that. A huge tree in the window, lights beckoning the wearytraveler’s home, cheerful colors depicting the season. The glowfrom the fireplace.” He took her hand in his.

“A man and awoman on their first date at a restaurant – gifts on the tablebetween them.” Lifting her hand, he kissed it slowly, his eyesalight with passion. “You inspire me, Odette. I had this basicidea of what it was going to be like, but being with you made methink of something so much bigger.”

“I’mhappy for that. It sounds wonderful.” She turned in his arms.“I’d like to be part of it.”

“Yourdesigns?”

“Something likethat. I’m going to be finishing the individual designs in aweek or two and then I’m free. Let me be part of this, Dion.I’m not asking for a section- “

“I want you tohave a section.” He grinned at the look on her face.

“Are you sayingthat because of what we are to each other?” She asked himsuspiciously.

He raised hiseyebrows. “I happen to be a businessman. I’d neverentertain anything like that. Well, what do you think?”

“I think I’mgoing to be extremely busy.”

“Not toobusy to spend time with me, I hope.”

“Never. Weshould stay in tonight.”

“I wasthinking the same thing.” He looked at her closely. “You’retired.”

“Way toboost a girl’s self-esteem.”

“As if yoursneed boosting.” He scoffed. “We could eat out on thebalcony. The view from there is spectacular. It overlooks theharbor.”

“I’msold. But first- “She tugged at his shirt.

“Again?”

“What’swrong with being horny?” She unbuttoned his shirt, sliding thematerial off his broad shoulders.

“Absolutelynothing. Unless I’m overdoing it.”

“You’renot.” She was busy unzipping his trousers. “This isthanking you for inviting me here. I’m having a ball.”

“Just what Iwas aiming for.”

Chapter 12

Trouble was waitingfor them when they returned. He was still riding on the high of thetrip. Having Odette there had proven to be a good idea. She settledhim and the things that had bothered him, the aborted meetings, thehiccups that were plaguing the store didn’t seem as big a dealas it had been before.
