I’m already smitten with this hot mountain man.

Chapter Five

Aiden

“Where’s the chute?” Nerf asks when we walk out of the forest. “You left it up there?”

“Unbelievable,” the short guy says as he shakes his head in annoyance.

My hands squeeze into fists as I glare at the group of guys. They seem more annoyed about the fucking parachute than they are relieved that Kylee is finally back.

“I had to,” Kylee says. “I was being attacked by wolves.”

“Wolves?” Nerf asks with a raised eyebrow. He doesn’t seem concerned. He seems more upset that he got left out on a risk-defying activity.

“Aiden saved me,” she says, looking up at me with those beautiful green eyes. Her cheeks start blushing as we gaze into each other’s eyes. “I’ll pay for the chute.”

Nerf grabs his chute and his jumpsuit. “Let’s bounce. I gotta work tonight and I’m already going to be late enough.”

I look at my girl, pleading with her to stay.

This can’t be it. This can’t be the end.

I’ll hop onto Otter and follow her home if I have to.

Our story is not going to end here. This is the beginning, not the end.

“Actually,” Kylee says slowly. My heart starts pounding in excitement as I stare at her stunning face. “I’m going to hang out here for a bit.”

“Huh?” Nerf says, looking confused.

“I’m going to get a room in town and stay for the weekend,” she says, shooting me a glance. “I want to explore the mountains a bit more.”

And I want to explore her.

My body begins to throb as I imagine having this beauty all to myself. I’m going to explore every stunning peak and valley she has on her.

“Alright, have fun,” Nerf says with a shrug. “Let’s go, boys.”

We walk with them to their Jeep and Kylee thanks her cousin for bringing her out. They give us some water and snacks to hold us over before they leave.

I’m so glad I don’t have to see her driving away with those guys. This girl is mine and I want to keep her all to myself.

“Where’s your truck?” she asks as she looks around the empty dirt parking lot.

I glance at the horse I’m holding onto.

“Oh right,” she says with an embarrassed little laugh. “Mountain men ride horses. What was I thinking?”

Every second I spend with her, I fall deeper in love. Where has this girl been all my life?

“How far is the walk?”

“About an hour,” I tell her. “Are you okay with that?”

She smiles as she looks around at the stunning scenery. “A nice hike through the spectacular Greene Mountains with my two new friends? I’m very okay with that. It sounds delightful.”

We make our way over the ridge, walking and talking and taking our time to give Otter a rest. Talking with Kylee is so easy.
