“Hey!” the redhead shouts. “Did anyone see Kylee?”

Kylee. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

“Yeah,” one of them shouts. “The wind took her around that peak.”

“Shit,” the redhead mutters.

He turns back to me, but I’m already leaping back onto Otter, hoping the speedy mare has some gas left in her tank. We’re going to need it.

“Let’s go!” I shout as I propel the horse forward. Otter takes off like a rocket.

The guy shouts something behind us, but I don’t hear him over the pounding in my ears, and I’m not about to slow down for him or for anything.

I’m going to find my girl.

And once I find her, I’m never going to let her go.

Chapter Three

Kylee

Iland hard.

And awkwardly.

My ankle gets twisted up, but I’m so flexible that it doesn’t injure me at all. I’ve landed way worse than this before.

I shake it off as I look around with a gulp. This isn’t a valley. I’m still on the mountain.

And I’m not sure which way to go.

“Down obviously,” I mutter to myself as I unzip my sky-diving suit and slip out of it. I’m wearing a tank top and jean shorts underneath.

I try to gather the parachute and bunch it up into a ball that can fit into the backpack, but I don’t even come close to making it fit. I guess I have to give Shully a bit more respect. He is pretty good at this.

I work up a sweat trying to shove it in until my thigh starts buzzing.

“Hey,” I say into my phone. It’s my cousin, Nerf.

“Where are you?”

“I don’t know. I landed on the mountain.”

“Where on the mountain?”

I look around at my surroundings and sigh. “Beside a large rock.”

He huffs out a breath. “That’s not very helpful.”

“Well, I don’t know!” I say, trying not to lose my cool. “I landed on the side of the mountain, I don’t know where. Do I look like a wild mountain woman who knows these mountains intimately?”

“Can you walk down?”

“Yeah, if I can get this stupid parachute to fold!” I say as I punch it into the bag.

“Alright,” he says in an impatient tone. “Hurry up, we’re hungry.”

He hangs up.
