“Yeah?” Gabriel flashes me a wicked grin.

“You like to watch me squirm, don’t you?”

The grin turns feral. “More than anything.”

“What I wanted to ask is… when we were… doing stuff, you said something…”

“Yeah, baby, yeah, just like that?”

I push his shoulder away. “Not that.”

He chuckles. “Sorry, you’re just so cute when you blush.” Then he turns serious. Gabriel reaches over and tucks a stray lock behind my ear. He’s so close I can feel his breath on my face. “Did I make it awkward?”

“No, no. But did you mean what you said or was it only in the lust of the moment?”

His fingers lace at my nape while his thumb brushes over my cheekbone. “I meant every word, baby. I love you.”

I swallow. Someone call the paramedics because I’m about to swoon to unconsciousness.

Gabriel buries his other hand in my hair as well and drops his forehead to mine. “You don’t have to say it back.”

“Sorry,” I say. “I’m just not sure where I am, yet. I am falling for you, fast, but I’ve only ever said it to one other person and I’m not sure I truly meant it back then. With you, I want to be 100 per cent.”

“It’s okay.” His words are a soft, soothing whisper. “We have all the time in the world to figure it out.”

He drops a kiss on my lips, and before I know it, I’m lying on the rug with him on top of me… our half-eaten dinner forgotten on the table. And I’ve changed my mind again; sex with Gabriel beats food now and forever.

BLAKE

“So I take it you two finally banged,” Thomas says from his seat across from us in the Mercer family jet.

I blush, while Gabriel frowns. “Don’t be crass, Thomas.”

Thomas schools his features into a serious expression and in a harrowing but excellent imitation of his brother, repeats, “Don’t be crass, Thomas.” Then, turning to me, he adds in his normal voice, “Should I try to go more for the brooding brother vibe? Is that what did it for you?”

“No.” I smirk. “It was watching him doing grand pliés.”

Thomas guffaws. “Oh, Blake, now I’ll rest better knowing someone else will amiably taunt my brother when I’m not around.”

Unexpectedly, Gabriel kisses the top of my head. “You and me both.”

The younger Mercer makes an outraged face. “Wait, wait. You always throw shade at me for my affectionate banter and she gets a kiss?”

Gabriel looks at his brother with a smirk. “She takes tender loving care of me, while the best you’ve given me is annoying teasing while asking for favors.”

I lace my fingers with Gabriel’s and kiss his knuckles. He responds by leaning in for a chaste smooch.

Thomas splutters. “I feel like I should leave the room and dash some cold water on my face. Do the two of you need some privacy? If you want to join the mile-high club, I could just go hide in the cockpit; I’m sure the pilot would be ecstatic to enjoy my company for the rest of the flight.”

“Why are you single?” I blurt.

“Okay.” Thomas raises his hands. “Now, I might actually have to leave.”

“No, come on.” Gabriel flashes him a grin. “Tell us about yourself.”

Thomas flips him. Gabriel flips him back. And the question goes unanswered. Guess that, for how open and laid-back Thomas acts, he also has his demons.
