There was a stilled silence. The sound of the music felt like it had stopped as the five of us suddenly became mute.
Oliver thankfully came to her rescue. “It’s where we met, would you believe it? Love at first sight.” He teased, pulling her into his embrace, which she allowed initially, and then pushed him off her as well.
“I don’t need you to save me.” She hissed back.
Jimmy seemed to ease up on his attempts with Tina for the moment.
His eyes redirected to Dustin, who seemed almost uneasy. Like the presence of Jimmy here was causing him significant discomfort.
I felt his hands around my waist, his fingers slowly weaseling into the small gap where my shirt was untucked from the skirt. The sheer touch of his skin on mine sent chills down my spine as I stilled, unsure how to react to this man. How to respond to his touch.
I felt him grasp onto me, pulling me into his hold tighter as he lifted my legs over his lap. My skirt slid upward, almost revealing myself. And I didn’t care. I didn’t even blink because all I could think about was the traces of his skin on my body. Every touch felt electric, even if it wasn’t meant to be.
Being this close, I could smell his cologne, a hint of sandalwood. He smelled nice, or at least nicer than any of the men in the office back at work.
Work.
My eyes widened at the thought.
The one thing I had forgotten about.
Would I even have a job after this?
Did they think I was a criminal on the run?
Did they think I wasdead?
The thoughts seemed to catch my breath as I sat there mildly petrified, not knowing what would happen to my old life, which was ironic because, given this newfound knowledge of mythological creatures, I could never truly live in the ignorant world of my old life.
That life was as dead as the security guard who mummified before me.
“So how is it that you managed to find a new halfling, Dustin? We’re not exactly a common breed around the States.” Jimmy smiled as he eyed Tina, revealing a golden tooth toward the back of his mouth. It glimmered against the flashing club lights, bringing me back to the present as it shined in my eye, catching my attention.
Dustin took a moment to respond as if calculating his words.
His hand made its way to mine, his left hand grabbing hold of both of my wrists as if to pin them down in my lap, and then his right slowly dragged up and down my inner thigh. I could feel his fingers plucking at my skirt, pulling the remainder of it back so that I was completely revealed to him and only him as his body blocked anyone else from seeing.
If there were anyone under our table, they would have surely seen my underwear - shining in its pink and blue lace. I held my breath so tightly wound in my chest that it almost felt impossible to exhale. My cheeks warmed, and everything in me centered in the same area, centered where his fingers strung along me, teasing me.
I wasn’t even sure if I was breathing at that moment.
He glanced at me before speaking to Jimmy, his eyes narrowing into slits at me, even if it was just for a split second, as if he was reveling in the feeling of catching me off guard. As if he was letting me know he couldtasteit.
“She’s not new. You’ve just never noticed her.” He said to Jimmy while he kept teasing me, tugging at my underwear as if he was going to do more, but then stopped himself, indulging in the idea that I was mentally begging him.
Jimmy didn’t argue but instead slid back into the seat. “So, about this deal.”
“Not here. As I discussed, we can review the logistics another time.” Dustin cut him off. His teeth jaded, his brow furrowing in response.
He looked angry.
His strokes on my leg hardened, like his fingers wanted to curve into a fist, pinching my skin.
“Why should that matter? We’re all succubus here beside your little treat there.” Jimmy cooed, trying to make eye contact with me once more. His head bobbed around as if searching for my eyes. “Wouldn’t mind snagging her for a quick minute or two.”
I felt vomit coil in my throat.
Was he serious?
