Colt cocked an eyebrow. "Shouldn't you be surprising your fiance right now?"

Liam laughed darkly. "Turns out, he didn't want to be surprised! And neither did his boyfriend."

Ouch. That was a bitch. But why come tell him? It wasn't like Colt was going to ask for a refund on those plane tickets.

Colt stepped towards the door, and cut a look over to Zane. "I'll take this outside."

Zane's tone was dry. "This is becoming a pattern. Do you want a leash for your pet doctor, Colt?"

Colt shot a glare at Zane before hustling Liam out of the room and into the corridor. Great, even his boss was giving him shit, now.

But Colt couldn't focus on that for long. When he caught the scent of alcohol, Colt narrowed his eyes. "Are you drunk?"

Liam scoffed, shaking his head. "Not really. Just had a little something for courage. Even on a doctor's salary, it's financiallyirresponsible to get wasted on those tiny airplane bottles of booze."

"Courage, huh?" Colt raised an eyebrow, curious about what could have prompted this unexpected visit. "For what?"

He didn't know what he was expecting — but when Liam shoved him into the maintenance closet, Colt was caught completely off guard. "Hey! What's with you and this closet, kid?"

But unlike the time, Liam didn't look angry – quite the opposite. Liam's cheeks flushed a deep pink, and he took the steady, deep breaths of someone with something to get off of their chest.

And Colt couldn't stop looking at that bare ring finger. "So… trouble in paradise?" Colt questioned, his voice deceptively casual.

"Paradise doesn't exist," Liam bit back, bitterness lacing his words. The hurt in his eyes was unmistakable.

Colt felt a surge of anger at whoever had caused him pain, his protective instincts flaring to life. "You want me to take care of him?"

"Are you offering to murder my ex?"

"If you want me to."

"Nowthat'sromance." Liam grabbed the front of Colt's shirt, pulling him close. Colt could have easily resisted, but something in Liam's intense gaze held him captive. Their bodies pressed together, tangled in the gloom of the closet. "Forget him. I already have."

Alright. The doctor clearly had one antidote for heartbreak in mind.

And Colt couldn't deny that he was on board with this treatment plan.

"Is this the reward you want, then?" Colt asked, his voice low and husky.

Liam's eyes burned with a fire that both excited and unnerved Colt. "You say you want to repay your family's debts?" he breathed. "Then make me forget everything."

Colt's arousal was instant and undeniable, pulsing through him like an electric current. He'd wanted Liam from the moment he'd laid eyes on him, his hunger for the young doctor only growing with each interaction.

"Doc," Colt whispered, his voice rough with desire. "Let me give you what you need."

He reached out, his strong hands encircling Liam's waist, pulling him close. Finally, their lips met in a passionate, dominating kiss.

Liam moaned into Colt's mouth, melting into his arms as if surrendering to him. Fuck, yeah. Colt could get used to that. The faint gloom of the closet seemed to amplify the heat of their connection, as though they were alone in their own private world.

Liam's fingers tangled in Colt's hair, clutching at him as if seeking stability. As their bodies pressed together, every point of contact seemed to ignite a fire within Colt, driving him mad with want.

"God, you feel so good," Colt growled against Liam's lips, his breath hot and ragged.

"Please," Liam breathed, his voice a desperate plea. "I need this, Colt. I need you."

The sound of Liam's plea sent a thrill down Colt's spine, and his resolve hardened. No one else would ever hurt Liam like that again – Colt would make sure of it.

"Then let me take care of you," Colt murmured, his voice a dark promise.
