And then a disembodied new voice said:

“I know just the place.”

Ben, Ere and Sorin braced for a confrontation with the invisible being.

But just as the body that matched the voice appeared, Ben realized why it was so familiar.

“Sai!”

“Hello, Ben,” the sea dragon greeted with a small smile.

“Lord Larkin, we meet again,” the bespectacled female who accompanied the platinum-haired, diamond-eyed man greeted in turn.

“Lady Brigid!”

But just as Ben rushed forth to hug them both, Ere beat him to it.

“Where have you been all this time! You promised to come visit! But it’s been years.Years!”

Sai patted Ere lightly on the back like an older brother comforting a spoiled younger sibling, though Ben was fairly certain that Ere was the older of the two.

“We came as soon as we could,” he replied. “Now that the fae realm is put to order, we can stay with you as long as you like.”

“Forever!” Ere declared, his voice muffled against Sai’s shoulder.

“Then forever it shall be,” Sai said agreeably.

He noticed Sorin standing slightly behind Ere and gave him a nod.

“Good to see you strong again, phoenix mate.”

Sorin nodded back in his typical wordless greeting. Sai then introduced Brigid to Ere and Sorin.

“But… how did you come to be here?” Ben asked after all that was done. “How did you even know where we were?”

“We were asked to come here through our dreams,” it was Brigid who answered.

“A lovely immortal told us that you would need our help to walk across worlds. That you were on a quest to find the Secret Gift. And that you would also need to find a missing dragon.”

“We simply isolated the signature of your aura within realms and followed you here,” Sai finished.

“What immortal?” Ere asked. “What did she—and I assume ‘lovely’ refers to a female—look like?”

“I can’t really describe her features now,” Brigid said. “But I would know her if I saw her again.”

“Sounds like Miss Seventh,” Ben suggested.

“I wonder if she’s still trapped in the Celestial Realm after we broke out,” Ere muttered.

“She can’t be having it easy if she’s still there and the JE knows that she broke a dozen rules to help us.”

“Perhaps we will find out,” Sai said.

“What do you mean?” Ben asked.

“The immortal told us that the missing dragon is hidden within the Celestial Realm. That we must come retrieve you and take you there to get him out.”

Ben nodded, already planning ahead.
