Gabe gave me a small smile. "Get some rest, Ella."

As he headed towards the door, I found myself suddenly wanting to reach out to grab his arm, but I didn't. Instead, I let him walk away.

Once I was alone, I fell asleep almost instantly.

In my dreams, I created an alternative ending where I had stopped Gabe from leaving. Instead, he laid me on the bed and pulled my clothes off, revealing my curves and dips. He bent low, inhaling my scent with nothing between us.

His fingers slid up my slit, sending tingles through my core and making me shiver. When they found my clit, they moved in a circular motion, teasing me with just the right amount of pressure.

"Gabe," I gasped, arching my back to meet him. "Please." I wanted him inside me more than I had wanted anything before.

He smiled and moved his hands away, leaving me wanting more. Grabbing my wrists, he held them above my head and pushed me deeper into the bed. With one hand firmly keeping me in place, he brought the other to my center. He started slow at first, applying light pressure as he moved his fingers in and out, teasing me until I begged for release. I moaned as he increased the pressure of his movements, pushing me ever closer to completion until I was trembling beneath him.

"You're mine, Ella," Gabe growled. His wolf pushed to the front, teeth bared. “Mine.”

He moved his body up over mine, grinding our hips together as he entered me. I gasped at the sensation of being filled, eager to take his thrusts as we moved together. Each movement sent waves of pleasure coursing through my veins, and I could feel myself getting closer and closer to my climax with every passing second.

I was almost there; so, so close. But it never happened. Instead, the dream drifted away, and I was left alone, a shaken mess in the tangled sheets.

__________

The sunlight streaming through the blinds woke me up, but it was the smell coming from the kitchen that had me rolling out of bed. I hadn't slept well after the steamy sex dream, and I was a little nervous to face Gabe after picturing us... together.

But I would have to face him sooner or later, seeing as I was still in his apartment. I gathered all my courage and made my way to the kitchen.

Gabe wasn't lying about being a good cook, that's for sure. He had pulled out all the stops setting up quite a feast on the bar counter - an array of fruits, bacon, eggs, and freshly brewed coffee.

He smiled warmly as he saw me standing in the doorway. "I thought you might be hungry after last night," he said by way of explanation.

I nodded slowly. He couldn’t have seen my dreams, could he?

My mouth already beginning to water at the sight of all that food. As I sat at the counter, Gabe passed me a plate and started piling it with goodies from every dish. It waslike being treated to a five-star meal that, for once, I wasn’t in charge of making. I finished everything on my plate and went back for seconds, struggling to avoid making eye contact as I again relived some of the sensations from last night.

“When you said I might be hungry, you couldn’t see, you know…my dreams or anything, right?” I tried to play it casual, but I really needed to know how far this mate connection went, especially because I hadn’t been privy to his thoughts since he had blocked me out.

My offhanded tone did nothing to fool him.

“Why do you ask, mate?” His lips quirked upward as the heat in his eyes brightened. “Something you didn’t want me to see?”

I threw him a look and took a massive bite of syrupy pancake. “Just answer the question, Gabe.”

“No, unfortunately. It seems like the situation with the mating mark has impeded some of our connection. I tried to reconnect with you several times already, but it looks like we’ll need to wait until we have mated to resume the bond.”

Gabe’s scowl told me all I needed to know. He was pissed about that.

“Um, sorry, I guess,” I said, not sure how else to respond. I immediately cringed after saying it, though. As if this morning could get any more awkward.

“Don’t worry, Ella. I’m going to fix this. I have it all planned out.”

“You do?” I raised my brows.

He nodded. “Yep. I was going to wait until you finished breakfast to tell you, but now’s as good a time as any.”

I stiffened, setting my fork down mid-bite. Whatever this was, I could tell it was going to be big. Gabe smiled at my reaction, his teeth flashing in an almost intimidating way. Of course, that was silly. Gabe being intimidating didn’t seem possible.

“After you went to bed, I did some thinking about our situation,” he said. “I thought about what you need and what I need.”

He paused, causing me to frown. “And what is that, exactly?”
