I tilt my head to look up at him, wondering if I should tell him the truth or not.

“I was wondering what it would feel like for you to kiss me,” I whisper.

“Have you ever been kissed?”

I shake my head no. I watch him slowly lower his head towards mine and I close my eyes. When our lips touch, it’s like my whole body comes alive. He slides his tongue along my lower lip, I open my mouth slightly and he deepens the kiss. My brain is firing faster and when he pulls back, all I can say is…

“Wow.”

I wrap my arms around him and breathe him in.

“Thank you. That was better than what I dreamed of when I read my books.”

Romano smiles at me. “What kind of books?”

“My romance books. They always say how when you kiss the right person, no one else will ever compare to it.”

“Well you won’t be kissing anyone else. So I hope that kissing me made you feel the way it made me feel?—”

“Alive.” We both say together.

Romano

Simone makes me feel alive. She’s awakened the parts of me that I was sure were gone for good. When I kissed her, I could feel my heart beating like it was going to pop out of my chest. And I wasn’t kidding when I told her that she wouldn’t be kissing any other man. I don’t care how long it takes, but I will be the first and last man for her.

It’s like I can hear Amara saying ‘it’s okay to love someone again.’ She’ll always be a part of me and who I am. But Amara is part of my past, and Simone is my future.

“Are you ready to head back to your hotel room?” I ask Simone.

“I am. I need to talk to Lucy about living here.”

“Do you have a cell phone?”

“No. I was hoping to get one after I get paid.”

“I’ll be right back, then we can leave.”

“Okay. I’ll let Lucy know we’re ready to go.”

I give her a quick kiss and head towards Giacomo. When I get to him, he’s grinning at me.

“What?” I frown.

“You’ve been here for a while now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile this much.”

I make a noise at him. “I smile.”

“Not like you do when you look at Simone.” He chuckles.

I sigh at him. “Do we still have extra cell phones? Simone and Lucy don’t have phones. And I was hoping I could give them one.”

“We do. Franco has them, he’s been keeping track of them. Plus we now have trackers in them for extra security.”

I nod. “Thanks, I’ll go ask him.”

“Hey, Romano?”

“Yeah?” I say, turning back to Giacomo.
