I laugh. “Those otters are the best. The original otter family is back in Ireland. That’s where Francesco got the idea for thisfamily. We’re actually a registered otter sanctuary, so we can take in ones that need a home.”

“That’s so awesome. Maybe I could go to school to work with animals.” Lucy smiles.

When we get down to the counter to check out, Chelsea comes out. I see Simone stiffen up next to me, I take her hand in mine and kiss it.

“Hey Chelsea, Simone needs to check out of her room. It’s room six-oh-one.”

I watch Chelsea look at Simone and Lucy and frown.

“Sure, Fantasma. They still have a balance to pay.”

I hand her my credit card. Which makes her glare at Simone.

“Do we have a problem?” I ask.

“Uh, no. sorry.”

“I have money to pay,” Simone whispers to me.

“I know, but you’re mine and I want to help you.”

Chelsea snorts when I call Simone mine. And that pisses me the fuck off. I can see the doubt in Simone’s face when she does that and it pisses me off even more.

“Are you done?” I snap at Chelsea.

She hands me a receipt and my card.

“Okay, let’s go.” I take both of their bags and we head out to the car.

“See you soon, Fantasma,” Chelsea calls out. I’m going to have a talk with Giacomo about her as soon as I get them settled.

Simone

That girl Chelsea keeps making faces at me and staring at Romano. I don’t know why she called him ‘Fantasma.’ But she makes me feel so insecure and I don’t like it.

“Why did Chelsea call you ‘Fantasma’?” I ask him once we’re in the car.

“It’s my road name. Everyone in the MC has a road name. They’re given to us by our president, I got mine when I was in Italy.”

“What does it mean?”

“It means ‘ghost.’ I’m good at being quiet and getting in and out of places.”

They both laugh.

“So does that mean you were a bad person before?” Lucy asks.

“Lucy!” Simone exclaims.

“What?” She has a scared look on her face.

He chuckles. “It’s okay. And no, I wasn’t a bad person. I was given that name because my president said that I could sneak up on any of them.”

Lucy giggles in the back seat. “I bet you can’t sneak up on me.”

“We’ll see. I’m pretty good at sneaking around.”

I love seeing Lucy so relaxed and having a good time. We had fun growing up when it was the four of us. But whenever our parents were with us, we had to be on our best behavior. We were all scared of our father, even if he didn’t hit us back then. I feel safe when I’m with Romano, but I’m still worried that our parents will find us and make us go back with them. If they came for Lucy, I’d have to go too. I’ll never leave her alone.
