“Naughty girl.”

He slapped her pussy, his fingers hitting her clit perfectly, and she lost her breath as the building climax peaked. She cried out and held her position, stiff and still until the first intensity crested, then she began bucking. He leaned over her thighs and slapped them to signal she should stop. She ultimately did. He flicked her now exposed clit, slamming her into another orgasm.

When she finally noticed her surroundings again, Monroe was angling her pelvis and plunged inside. Mallory, without thought, met the rhythm he created. She took her unbound legs and wrapped them around Monroe as he quickly worked his way to pounding as he pistoned in and smoothly slid out. Her heels dug into his flexing ass as he took her.

Mallory became lost in the repetitious tempo. “I’m about there, sweetheart. Get yourself off.”

Without further instructions, Mallory did just that. She would not achieve it without help after the two hard ones she had already had. As she watched him throw his head back, she redoubled her efforts, and she was right there with him, enjoying the overwhelming pleasure of completion.

Leaning down to kiss her after disengaging Mallory’s ankles from around his waist, he strode to the bathroom and brought back a washcloth to help with Mallory’s clean-up. It was always so embarrassing to submit to his care of her lady bits because the frenzied passion was over, her libido satisfied, and the cleansing was very intimate during her cool-down. Awkward. But it was just what this man would do, gently take care of her needs while showing her, in his own way, that there was nothing she would hide from him, ever. She loved him for every little annoyingly exasperating thing he did to demonstrate she was his.

Chapter 15

“Where is Mallory?” demanded Sharlee.

Monroe gave the phone an irritated male look totally lost on Sharlee but made Mallory giggle groggily. Monroe looked at the clock on his nightstand out of habit. He looked over at Mallory as she snuggled back under the cover and put her head back on his shoulder.

He whispered his gruff reply. “There had better be a reason you are using that tone with me at this time of the night, Charlotte, or my paddle will be coming out.”

“Monroe, listen to me. Do. You. Have. Mallory?”

The purely dominant voice changed instantly to concern. “Yes, of course. She’s right here. What the hell are you—” His tone darkened. “Talk.”

“Oh, thank God. Another woman has been abducted. They recovered her body just an hour ago, but the woman looked like Mallory from the back and even from the side angle. Reporters are questioning if it is Mallory. I’m running the woman’s photo through the data bank now, but I think it’s time we put Mallory on the Keep Safe System Roster and possibly lock her down. We’ve overlooked something.”

“Roger that. When do you want to do it?”

“Now. I don’t know what’s happening, but I’d lay odds it has something to do with Mallory getting away from the kidnapper. There has to be an accomplice. Oh, and Monroe, something else since you’re awake. The woman Mallory saved from the cellar has just died. About fifteen minutes ago.”

“Damn.”

Jac’s voice came over the speaker. “Let’s talk about added security measures and the new information tomorrow. O-eight hundred.”

“Copy that. We’ll be there.”

Jeanne had miscalculated, not paying attention to the signs that she wasn’t grabbing the right person. She’d focused too much on capturing the woman that she hadn’t noticed the differences. Hadn’t noticed it wasn’t that Sasse woman. Once she’d pulled out the I.D. to verify she had the right one, rage roared through her veins when she realized it was not the pharmacist. When Jeanne finished with her, there wouldn’t be anything sassy about her. She’d be scattered to the four corners of the earth. But right now, she had another problem.

Her master had wanted that woman, that pharmacist. After all Jeanne had endured, after all she had done for her master, she dared to want another to keep. It was one thing to keep the other women for a while to get his rocks off. It had been a relief not to have to satisfy Master’s baser needs, but she’d been with him, cleaning up after him, slaving for him for fourteen years. She deserved his loyalty.

Craig spoke of how perfect Mallory Sasse was and how he was going to keep her. When he acted like he had the queen of the world in the cellar, Jeanne had known it was going to be a problem. He’d never treated anyone else with the care he treated that pharmacist. That’s when Jeanne knew she had to get rid of that woman. But the pharmacist had escaped and gotten Jeanne’s master thrown in jail. Jeanne was going to make that woman pay for taking her master from her.

Then the FBI found the bodies. They could find more because there were more. Jeanne’s life was over, and it was all because of that bitch pharmacist. She would have to tighten her strategy. The next one she grabbed would be Mallory. Once she was taken care of, Jeanne would go on and find her own playthings. She might even try that hulk of a man that seems to be the pharmacist’s boyfriend. It would take some planning, and she could do it, but first, things first.

Chapter 16

Monroe was recounting his night with Garrett when Mallory stumbled into the kitchen, barely awake, looking like a beautiful wreck.

He hated that the news of the kidnapped and then murdered woman had reignited Mallory’s nightmares for most of the night. Monroe had hoped she would fall back to sleep when he took the call so he could have waited until morning to tell her, but his luck hadn’t held out. Mallory asked the moment he hung up. Monroe tried to deflect her questions, but she wouldn’t have it. She demanded to be told, and he obliged.

Mallory finally went to sleep out of sheer exhaustion, only to wake up from dreams often. Monroe had dozed in between dreams. Finally, at five, he rolled out of bed and showered in the second bathroom. Garrett rolled out right behind him, and while Monroe was explaining the night’s revelations, he watched Mallory enter the room, then stop walking as though she wasn’t sure she knew where she was.

Garrett left to hit the shower while Monroe checked in with his girl. He watched her teeter her final, unsteady steps further into the kitchen, and his heart hurt for her. The fact that she walked directly into his arms should have given him a boost to his ego, but all it did was remind him that his woman wasn’t safe, and he didn’t even know who presented the threat.

“Hey, baby. How are you this morning?”

“I feel like hell, and my world is out of control. I can’t sleep more than an hour or so without having another nightmare, and I’m a prisoner even though I’m no longer captive in that cellar.”
