Nancy was at the sink when she screamed. Lisa came running in from the playroom.

“Nancy! What’s wrong?”

Sputtering, Nancy pointed to the side door. “A camel just walked by.”

“Oh, no. They’re an hour early. Surprise! The nativity scene.”

“It’s not just caroling on the beach,” Zach said, chuckling.

“I have a taco truck coming, too. So, caroling, tacos, and a live nativity.”

The same crowd that attended every function on Sea View, including Julie Hsu, her boyfriend, Eric Jacob, and little Margaret, were all there.

“Oh come, all ye faithful,” Will sang out in a beautiful baritone.

“This is the most magical Christmas I’ve ever been part of,” Betsy said.

It was confirmed on Christmas Eve that Kassandra and Steve Lafferty were dating. Zach wasn’t able to get off work to go to Pam’s party, so Ryan and Betsy offered to help Lisa get everyone over.

“You guys, I’m fine. Megan and Marcus will help. It’s four houses down. You two need to be on your own.”

“We don’t want to be on our own,” Betsy said, snickering over the phone. “It’s boring on our own.”

Lisa could hear Ryan laughing in the background. “We’re bored on our own,” he called out. “We need lots of chaos and screaming kids to feel complete.”

“He’s lost it.”

“It’s the truth, though,” Betsy said. “We want to be with you and the kids.”

“Okay, come get us.”

They walked into Pam’s house without knocking, and the first couple Lisa saw was Kassandra Coeur and Steve Lafferty, looking like movie stars, chatting with Dan and Pam.

“Whoa, who’s the dreamboat?” Betsy hissed.

“Lisa’s ex, her gynecologist, Steve Lafferty,” Ryan said, making Lisa laugh.

“Those four look like they just stepped off a movie set.”

“Honest to God, Kassandra’s just as bad as the others,” Ryan said. “What the fuck?”

“It’s fine. He was a jackass. I can’t wait for Laura and Will to get here. Was Laura married to Steve?”

“I don’t remember,” Ryan said. “I was just grateful that he took over so I could come home to you.”

Ryan and Lisa looked at Betsy and chorused, “Sorry.”

“It’s okay! I love you two together. You’re like brother and sister.”

“You didn’t tell her yet?” Lisa asked Ryan.

“No. I was waiting for the right time.”

“Oh Jesus, is this the kissing cousins reference?” Betsy asked, grimacing.

“It is,” Lisa said. “Ryan, take her out on the veranda and tell her.”

“I’ll take Sierra with me,” Betsy said. “Those two will lay waste to your mother’s house.”
