“Don’t get too thin,” he said.

“Tony, no way,” she replied, but laughed.

“I like your butt. It might be a little bigger than it was a week ago.”

“Okay, on that note, I’m going to hang up.”

“I’ll call you when the game’s over.”

“Are you going to make it on time?”

“Probably not, but I wanted to see you before I left.”

“Thank you, Tony.”

“Love you, Kassandra.”

He did love her. Being with Janine had been a way to kill time. She was attractive, with raven hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. Where Kassandra was willowy, Janine was voluptuous, her body definitely a turn on.

But that was in the past. He planned on telling Janine tonight, after the game, that Kassandra was pregnant and was going to stay home with the baby, which meant he would not be available to mess around.

Janine had always spoken highly of Kassandra, so he hoped she’d be gracious about him ending their affair. He didn’t want to be the kind of father who played around on the mother of his child.

Fortunately for Tony, the game was delayed when the referee had to be replaced at the last minute because of illness.

“Boy, you have an angel on your shoulder tonight!” Janine said, pulling him in for a kiss.

“Don’t do that here,” he said, shaking her off.

“Why? No one else is here right now.”

“Just don’t.” He pointed at the security cameras.

“Okay, what’s going on?” she asked.

“We’ll talk about it after the game,” he said stonily.

“It looks like the game might be canceled.”

“It will be a first for me,” Tony said.

Finally, after another twenty minutes, the game started. Janine and Tony had great on-air chemistry, and this night was no different. After two hours the game was officially over. Over the years, Tony had never had reason to regret his relationship with Janine. But tonight, he had misgivings.

They cleaned up the room with the other announcers, joking around as usual, but when it was time to leave, Janine grabbed Tony’s arm in the hallway in view of a fellow announcer.

“Oh no you don’t,” she said. “You said you wanted to talk, and I’m not letting you leave until you tell me what’s going on.”

“Do you want to go down to the bar?” he asked.

“Come to my place.”

She lived twenty miles from the stadium.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he said, definitely not going to her apartment.

“Tony, you’re scaring me.”

“Don’t be scared, Janine. We just need to switch things around a little.”
