“You thinking about it?” he asks me, biting his lip.

“Yes,” I breathe.

He grins. “It is hot.”

“Very hot. Maybe sometime we might get to try it out.”

“Here’s hoping,” he muses. “But honestly, you’d look good in anything, Mads. I mean that.”

“You’re too sweet,” I tell him.

“You should tell me a fantasy of yours,” he says, with a cheeky glint in his eye.

I take another sip of wine, my eyes flicking to his lips. “I think having an orgasm in an auction house before the auction was the big one I didn’t know about until today.”

He smiles sheepishly. “Oops.”

“Yeah, oops is about right.”

“What else?” He presses. “I’d love to know.”

I think for a moment, wondering if I should elaborate, but he told me his, so it’s probably only fair. “I’ve thought about what it would be like to get it on somewhere outdoors.”

“You’ve never done it outside?”

I shake my head. “Nope, can’t say I have.”

He grins, and I know he’s thinking about it. “May have to remedy that someday, too.”

“Here’s hoping.” I use his words, making him laugh as he shakes his head.

We eat the rest of our meal with companionable chatter. I can’t get over the fact it’s so freaking easy with him. Too easy, in fact. But that could just be me trying to find something wrong where there isn’t anything. That’s all I’ve been used to in the past.

The fact that he seems to love taking care of me, as well as intently listening to me when I talk is growing to be one of the things Ireallylike about him.

“Nightcap?” I ask him without thinking when we reach the end of the night.

There’s a slight breeze in the air, but I’m far from cold. I don’t think I could be cold with him around.

He raises his eyebrows as he insists on paying the check. “What were you thinking?”

“A game of charades over at your Airbnb?” I chuckle.

He laughs and wraps his arms around me as we’re leaving. People are looking at us, and I don’t know if it’s because they recognize Ashton or if it’s just because we’re being very flirty for anyone to see. “Charades sounds fun,” he muses thoughtfully.

I give him a nudge in the ribs. “You think that’s a good idea where sofas are concerned? We know what happened last time.”

“Us and sofas seem to mix pretty well. I think they turn me into a bad boy.”

“I think you were already a bad boy to begin with. Well, a good, bad boy. Is that a thing?”

He chuckles. “Apparently, it is.” He pulls me to his side and kisses me on top of the head.

“I had a great day with you,” I tell him, smiling up at him. “Like, the best.”

“Me too,” he says. “It’s not a day I’m going to forget in a hurry, Maddie. I think we complement each other very well.”

“Maybe too well?”
