‘You really are a goddess, Naomi.’ He let out a soft pant as he thrust deep into me and lifted my hand from his back to kiss each finger. ‘Your skin’s softer than flower petals.’

We had sex on and off all afternoon until we were left breathless and staring into each other’s eyes.

‘I wish we could do this every day,’ he said, his chin resting on his hand as he lay beside me in the rumpled sheets.

‘Me too. I would do anything to feel like that every moment of the day.’ I laughed.

He rolled onto his back and stretched luxuriously. ‘We should have a spa, then go to dinner. Where do you want to go?’

‘A spa sounds good.’ I winked at him. ‘But I’m not really dressed for dinner.’

‘True.’ He smiled. ‘It would be nice to not have to put our clothes back on for a while.’ He stood and walked to his ensuite. I admired his naked rump before he disappeared out of sight, and a moment later, I heard running water. ‘You joining me?’ he called.

‘Oh, yes.’ I quickly wrapped the crinkled sheet around me and walked into the bathroom, my legs weak from all the exertion, and watched as the huge spa filled with warm water and bubbles. The bathroom window looked straight onto the water. It reminded me of a picture I’d seen on Instagram of a posh Amalfi Coast bathroom overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The only difference was his window outlooked the Noosa canals. I dipped my toes into the water to check the temperature.Perfect.

Patrick hopped in first and held out his hand for me to join him. I let the sheet drop to the floor and stood with my arms folded over my breasts, then quickly hopped in.

‘You know what would make this perfect?’ he asked with a ‘genius-idea’ look plastered on his face.

‘I can’t imagine anything being more perfect than this, Patrick.’

He smiled broadly. ‘How about champagne and strawberries? One sec. I’ll be right back.’

He stood, water running down his sculptured back, and I just stared at the beauty of his body. He was a walking Adonis. After he left the room, I sank my head into the bubbling spa.How did I get so lucky?

Upon his return, he handed me a champagne flute and a red, ripe strawberry. As I took a sip and closed my eyes, I felt more relaxed than I ever had, and all my worries seemed to dissipate and drain out of me.I’d love to feel like this every day of the week.

‘How’s the champagne?’ he asked while looking into my eyes.

I stared right back at him and raised a suggestive eyebrow. ‘Really nice.’

He smiled, then took a sip from his glass.

‘Where shall we go for dinner?’ he asked as his green eyes caught the light of the pink and orange sunset painted across the sky.

‘Oh, let’s just stay in.’ I put my champagne glass down and stood, moving across the spa towards him.

He put his glass down too and grinned as I slid down onto his lap. ‘Sounds good to me.’ He lifted my hand up and kissed it.

They often say time flies when you’re having fun, and in my case, when you’re utterly in love. In the four and a bit weeks since Patrick and I spent our first night together, time had well and truly sped up, and it was already December. It felt like just yesterday that Patrick confessed his feelings to me. Things had gotten serious between us, and in those four and a bit weeks, I really did become the queen of early mornings. We often got up before sunrise, sat on his terrace with coffees and homemade croissants, and watched as the sun rose behind the mansions, filling the pale blue sky with its warm rays the higher it climbed.

I thought back to the discussion we’d had about whether to tell anyone at work about our relationship as I brushed my hair in Patrick’s ensuite mirror.

‘Should we tell anyone at work about us? I mean we keep talking out the back alone, and we always go in together. Is it becoming obvious?’ I asked Patrick as I sat on the black silk sheets on his bed big enough to sleep four adults.

‘Naomi, it’s up to you. I have nothing to hide,’ he said with a nonchalance in his tone while he stared down at me.

‘Won’t it change how people treat us, though? And I’m ten years younger than you.’ I folded my arms, suddenly overwhelmed with fear.

He shook his head. ‘I’m not worried about that, mio luce del sole. I’m not just the manager. I’m the owner too, remember.’ He flashed his smile that showed he wasn’t afraid of what people thought and that he took me seriously.

‘Alright. Whatever you’re comfortable with.’ His smile made me fall into a bubble of happiness, and I felt light and tingly.

After that conversation, Patrick made it clear to everyone at work we were a couple and didn’t shy away from hugging me at the end of our busy shifts. And as he predicted, no one treated him differently.
