There was something else though that Ethan didn’t see, or at least he didn’t appear to pick up on. Even though it had been dark last night, and Worth had gotten a better look at the person driving the green Camry, she fit the hair and body type of the female driver behind the wheel of that car.

I tried to step in and interrupt the duo as they continued to talk, but Tamara looked at me with narrowed eyes.

I cleared my throat. I wasn’t about to lay down and let this girl mentally manipulate me or try to scare me off.

“Geneva?” I cut in politely.

Geneva pushed her hair off her cheek and looked at me. “Yes?”

“Could I speak to you privately for a second? It won’t take very long, I promise—”

“Excuse you, we’re here to work,” Tamara rudely interjected without allowing me to finish.

Geneva, ever the polite and friendly woman that she was, turned pink. “Caleb, Ethan, you remember meeting Tamara in Miami, don’t you?”

Ethan’s eyes lit up. “Yes, absolutely. It’s nice to see you again, Tamara. I’m sorry I couldn’t remember your name, but I knew your face.”

“No worries,” Tamara stated flatly.

I couldn’t be as friendly.

I didn’t want to alarm Geneva, but I wanted to talk to her and warn her. Something about this girl gave me an unsettled feeling. I hooked my hand around her elbow. “I just need to see you for a minute if you don’t mind,” I whispered in her ear.

Geneva gave me a frown, but she relented. “Tamara, will you excuse us for a second?”

“Sure.” Tamara furrowed her brow hesitantly as she shifted her weight uncomfortably. “I’m just going to see what swimsuits they want me to wear,” she mentioned and glanced behind her.

“I’ll catch up with you in a few minutes,” Geneva called over her shoulder as I attempted to breezily swoop her away to a private corner.

“What’s going on guys?” she whispered.

I didn’t want to make a scene, but I needed to get this revelation off my chest. “Geneva,” I began as both she and Ethan eyed me skeptically, “you mentioned that Tamara drives a green Camry, right?”

“Uh-huh.” Geneva nodded.

I paused, reluctant. “I didn’t get a great look at the driver, but Tamara wears her hair the same way.”

Geneva’s face twisted. “I know what you said, but… this is Tamara. And you don’t know for sure that person in the Camry had anything to do with what happened.” She shook her head as if she was trying to convince herself. “It couldn’t have been Tamara. She’s a good friend of mine.”

“Are you sure?” I pressed.

“Let it go, man,” Ethan said. “Don’t upset her. There are plenty of females who drive green Camrys. It’s not like there’s only one on the road. The likelihood of that happening is slim to none.”

“Plus, I don’t have any reason to believe that Tamara wants to scare me or rob me,” Geneva added, glancing over her shoulder.

Tamara was engaged with a wardrobe staff member who was holding up swimsuits and making suggestions. I wanted Geneva to listen to reason, to hear me out, but it seemed as if she’d already made up her mind.

“Okay…” I trailed off. I needed to back away for a minute.

“Caleb, wait.” Geneva placed her hand gently on my arm. “What’s wrong?”

I ran a hand through my hair. I didn’t want to disturb Geneva, especially because she needed to focus on work. “It’s nothing,” I said, opting for the little white lie in order to keep the peace for now.

Geneva frowned. She wasn’t buying it. “Caleb. Tell me what’s going on. Do you know something else I should be aware of?”

“No,” I shook my head vehemently, because that was the truth. I didn’t have the whole puzzle piece in place, only a few scattered clues and my gut feeling that something was very wrong here. “You’re probably right. It was just a coincidence.”

I swallowed hard. I didn’t know why I was electing to let this go, but part of it might have had something to do with the fact that we were in a public place, at Geneva’s employment. I didn’t want to put her job or her emotional state in jeopardy. Normally, I preferred to speak my mind and get everything out in the open but for whatever unknown reason, I kept my mouth shut in this particular situation.
