The kitchen was marble, with gorgeous tile and wood and high-end appliances, and the view from both the kitchen bar and the main room was breathtaking. The massive windows looked out over the beach and the ocean, and Paul had never seen anything so wonderful.

The place was huge, but he still referred to it as his quarters. It had rooms for everything: laundry, caterers, office, sitting room, living room, sunroom, and dining room. The place seemed endless, and although it should intimidate him, Paul found it perfect, lovely, and welcoming.

Paul noticed that Sloan had left his bedroom, the main bedroom, for last, and it did not disappoint. The room was Sloan, soft and hard in all the right places, and just a perfectly handsome room. Sloan motioned for him to come over to the large floor-to-ceiling window, and he pulled back the curtains.

The view was that of the lawns, the woods, and a river beyond; it was spectacular. "Is this the tallest building in the area?"

"Not the tallest, but we are situated upon the highest grade for miles, so it seems like we are the tallest. We have a three-hundred-sixty-degree view, and we can see people coming from miles away." Sloan remarked, and Paul wondered if the place was more a fortress than a home. Paul continued enjoying the view out the window until Sloan began stripping down and then disappeared inside a walk-in closet and came back out dressed in jeans and a black pullover sweater. He then sat down and slipped on his boots.

Sloan had cut a fine figure in his dress clothes of the previous night, but this casual look was just as stunning. Maybe it wasn't the clothes but rather just Sloan. He could make anything look amazing. Paul couldn't help himself and walked over to the edge of the bed where Sloan was seated and bent, taking his lips in a possessive kiss. Never in his life had he felt so presumptuous and loved it.

Sloan held him and joined the kiss, taking it deeper before slowly backing off and capturing Paul's gaze. "I want to present you to the Master and then tour the island." He said. Paul wasn't sure who the Master was, but he trusted Sloan and had no qualms about meeting the people in his life.

"Sounds good to me." Paul dropped another kiss to Sloan's lips, and he reciprocated. Sloan's kisses were awesome, and Paul felt it in every cell of his being. Sloan stood and again draped his arm across Paul's shoulders and started for the door of the bedroom when his cell phone went off. He checked it, and from the look on his face, Paul knew he needed to take it.

Paul nodded and headed out of the room to give him privacy for his call. Paul walked back to the main room and stood at the window, looking out and taking in the grandeur of this location.

Little did he expect that going out last night for a little excitement would have led to him finding someone like Sloan Dobre and having such a wonderful night and lovely day. He wasn't sure if the relationship was indeed a relationship, but even if it were just a weekend, he would count himself fortunate. It wasn't long before Sloan joined him in the main room, and he didn't look pleased.

"A situation has arisen, and it requires my attention." He began, and although he sensed every word as truth, he also couldn't help feeling that it was Sloan's way out. Spending the day together had been his idea, but maybe he rethought it and decided it would be better to have space. His heart was telling him that Sloan was not dumping him, but his head was harder to convince.

"Sure, no problem, I'll call a cab." Paul was immediately walking toward the door, and Sloan reached out and stopped him by grabbing his hand.

"No, I'll have security drive you." He pulled Paul close and tilted his head up. "I will meet you at your place as soon as I deal with this problem. Wait for me." He said, and Paul nodded.

"I have some work to catch up on, so I'll be home." Paul was disappointed that their time had come to an end, but he also understood that men like Sloan were busy and were always on call. Looking into his eyes, it was hard not to believe every word he was saying.

"I'll see you soon, my love." He kissed him again and then walked him back down to the garage and handed him over to a man in a black suit. He helped him get seated in the back and then leaned in and kissed him one more time. "Wait for me." He pressed, and Paul believed him, every word.

"I will." With that, he closed the door, and Paul was on his way home.

Sloan watched the car drive away, and his annoyance at the whole situation was difficult to suppress. He swung around and charged into the security room on the far side of the garage and slammed the door behind him. The room was used for interrogation, briefings, and meetings; it was fully equipped and soundproof.

"Sorry to have bothered you, but it's something we can't do without your oversite." His brother came up to him, contrite and apologetic. "The wolves you dealt with yesterday decided it was a good idea to push the boundaries that were set in place."

“Who and where?” Sloan was missing his adored, but this was serious business, and if they didn't slap the rogues down immediately, the problem simply got bigger.

"Morgan and his crew are downtown near the waterfront park and making a spectacle of themselves," Rian reported.

“Who have you sent?”

“Anders and his team are there now.”

“Send the mind sweepers. Perhaps it is time they experienced the kind of timed and targeted memory loss that only a vampire can deliver." Sloan thought for a moment and then added. "Remove their identities and their recognition and leave them like that for the next two days. Have Anders drop them at the border of wolf territory and leave them there."

"You're very creative, brother." Rian chuckled.

"We're giving them one chance to straighten up and learn to play right, or the next step, we wipe them out. This is Coven territory, and we will not abide rogue wolves trying to throw their weight around." Sloan would remain until the wolves were neutralized and the area they were in was secured. It would take a couple of hours.

"I'm sorry you had to leave your adored. We'll get this under control as quickly as possible so you can return to him." Rian was still apologizing.

"It's okay, he's home, and I will be meeting him there when I'm finished here. He's feeling the bond, and things are opening for him. He just doesn't understand it as yet.” Sloan explained.

"You're so lucky to have met your adored and have him be someone like Paul Masters, a nice guy who is very clearly in love with you already." Rian teased.

"I'm in love with him too, Rian. That bond goes both ways, and the drive I feel to be with him is fierce. You'll find out one day." Sloan gave him a side-eye.

“I hope I am blessed with someone as sweet and handsome as your Paul.”
