“I’m glad you’ve found your home. Are you and Cole in love?”

“No, Cole says he will never fall in love with anyone. I believe I am deeply in love with Cole. You are the only one who knows, so please don’t tell anyone.”

“My lips are sealed.”

“Do you think you might be my sister?”

“Why do you ask that?”

“You laugh like Jackie, and your eyes resemble hers.”

“My eyes look like thirty percent of the people on this mountain. Tell me about your parents.”

“I thought my father left us when I was three, and now I hear he may have been injured in a robbery, lost his memory, and spent six years in prison before the truth came out. But he still might not have his memory. Spartan is trying to find him.”

“Do you want him found?”

“It doesn’t matter to me; I know he must still be alive and didn’t just leave us. That’s what matters.”

“What about your mom?”

“She left when I was sixteen and Jackie was fifteen. Jackie was murdered when she was seventeen.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Jackie was the best sister you could have,” I heard a noise and turned, and the youngest daughter ran and hugged her mom.

“When is Daddy coming home?”

“He’ll be home when he feels better. How about I make breakfast? You can help me gather eggs. We’ll show Aunt Bailey how we gather the eggs.”

I smiled, stopped, and looked at Izzy, “Are you my sister?”

“Yes, is that okay?

“Are you kidding me? That’s absolutely wonderful; having you as my sister is the greatest gift I could ever ask for,” I started crying and had to sit down.

“Why is Aunt Bailey crying?”

“Because she has six of the greatest nieces and nephews an aunt could have.”

“Oh my God, I have nieces and nephews. I am the luckiest aunt in the world. How long have you known that we were sisters?”

“I talked to my Mom last night. She sat with me at the hospital for a while, and as I was telling her about you, she revealed that you were my sister.”

“Where does your Mom live?”

“She lives a couple of hours away.”

God has given me another sister.

I’ve heard enough. Why did she even go to Bo’s house in the first place? I warned her about him being a mean son of a bitch. I can’t reach her on the phone. Can you let her know that I’ve been trying to call her? I said to Steel.

Steel laughed. “Are you falling in love with my cousin?” I angrily hung up the phone. Hell no, I wasn’t falling in love. I liked her a lot, but that was as far as it went.
