Oliver sits on Kellen's back as we make our way to the bar. We figured it'd be a good idea for the rest of the guys to be there, at least at first.

Maybe the reason our last date went awry is because I didn't ease him into it. I wish I didn't have to trick him into a date in first place. My stubborn boy. He refuses to listen.

When we arrive my ID is checked which feels a little silly, but it's good to know they're taking precautions. I paid a shit ton of money to rent this arcade. It's got rooms with consoles and games to rent, along with regular arcade games. Echo's eyes light up despite his clear exhaustion.

We all need to sit down.

"How bout we eat first?" I ask.

After a delicious meal, we split off to play games. the rest of the group purposely avoiding us.

"Did you win?"

Echo tries to maintain an uninterested look as he finishes up another round of some game I don't recognize. He shrugs, "Sure. I'm gonna play something else."

I follow him. He might think he's convincing, but the way he darts his eyes every time he puts on these displays lets me know they're just a performance. He's enjoying the fuck out of himself.

My phone pings.

Kellen: @ the hotel. have fun ;)

I watch Echo play some more, even joining him for some easier ones like Mario Kart on the Switch. He acts annoyed but he doesn't acknowledge me being glued to his side.

We take a break and he yawns. This is a consequence of going out after shows, it's usually late as fuck. But why not sacrifice sleep for fun?

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom." he says.

There are less staff here now than when we arrived, probably because theres only two of us here now. I think Echo and I made some real progress tonight. His acting skills havent improved none, I can see right through him.

This was a great idea. I should buy Scout a gift.

When a few too many minutes have passed without Echo returning I decide to go check on him. Was I wrong?

Did he leave without me?

Echo

Ikeep trying to wipe the smile off my face. I can't let Callum know how much I'm enjoying this. He's clearly tricked me again. I'm not sure how he keeps doing that.

At a certain point I have to wonder if I'm subconsciously allowing this to happen or something. I've escaped to the bathroom for a moment of reprieve. Callum's being so perfect. A little too perfect.

It's breaking down my walls and simultaneously building new ones. How can I trust that this isn't some other kind of trick? That this will last if I finally give in?

"Echo?"

Speak of the devil.

"Yes?" What am I gonna do? Not respond?

"Are you okay?"

"Hm? Uh, yeah."

"Are you sure? You've been in here a while." He looks relieved to see me for some reason.

"Have I? I guess I was just thinking."

"About what?"
