"Wait. I need my shampoo," I say, stopping him when he tries to pull me back into the living room. He waits at the bathroom door for me to grab what I need. I toss my shampoo, conditioner, razor, toothbrush, and makeup into a toiletry bag and then back out of the bathroom.

"I'm ready."

Theo takes my hand again, leading me out of the apartment. He locks the door behind us and then takes my bags from me before sliding an arm around my waist. I don't complain when he pulls me up against his side. Theo stealing my panties was annoying and a little bit sexy too. Knowing someone else stole them is not sexy. It's creepy. And gross.

"Which apartment is Chad's?" Theo asks once we're at his car.

"That one," I say, pointing it out. The complex is small, only two large buildings with a dozen units in each. Chad lives at the very end, furthest from the parking lot. The grass outside his place is dead. Probably from all the stale beer he pours on it.

Theo looks in that direction and then nods. "Wait for me in the car, Charlotte."

"Theo."

"Wait in the car."

"Are you going to get in another fight?" I whisper, really worried that's exactly what he's about to do. Theo is a good guy. He's protective and caring and fiercely loyal. He's exactly the type of guy who would punch Chad in the face for being creepy and gross. But he already has a concussion. The last thing he needs to do is get in another fight. Especially with someone like Chad. If he's willing to go into my apartment and take my panties, there's no telling what he's capable of doing. I don't want Theo to get hurt. I can replace my panties. He can't replace his brain.

"I'm just going to talk to him."

"With your words?"

"Depends on how cooperative he is," he says, his jaw firm.

"Please don't get in a fight," I whisper, grabbing his arm. My teeth chatter, a cold chill ripping through me. "Please, Theo. I don't care about the panties. Please."

"Hey," he whispers, his expression softening. He pulls me into his arms, tucking my head against his chest. "You're okay, baby doll. I have you now and no one is going to hurt you, all right?"

"I'm not worried about me," I mumble, pressing my face into his chest. My safety didn't even cross my mind. I know Theo wouldn't let anyone hurt me. With him, I've always felt perfectly safe. He's my ice prince, my warrior. He said he needs me, but I need him, too. "I don't want to lose you. He can have my stupid panties. Please stay with me. Please."

He hesitates for so long, I'm sure he's going to refuse.

"I need you," I whisper.

"Fuck," he growls. But the tension in his body melts, and I know he's going to give me what I want. He confirms it when he says, "Let's get the fuck out of here."

"Okay," I agree, exhaling a relieved breath.

He helps me into the car and then leans over me to buckle my seatbelt when I can't get it latched. My hands shake too hard. His expression is soft when his eyes meet mine.

"You're not coming back here ever again," he states.

"Never ever," I promise, more than willing to give him that. Chad can keep my panties and my apartment. So long as he doesn't hurt Theo, he can have everything I own.

Chapter Five

Theo

"Ineed a favor."

"If it involves more work for me or Camila, we're killing you," Kelsey says. "My phone hasn't stopped ringing all day. Neither has hers. Do you know how impossible it is to get anything done when your phone won't stop ringing?"

"It's important."

"You always say that," she reminds me.

"I'm serious this time."

"Fine. What do you want?"
